Re: Suzuki Ertiga - 7 seater MPV

Doing my assignment...Hehehe share lang po to about suzuki ertiga...

It was launched on 12 April 2012 in India[2] and on 22 April 2012 in Indonesia.[3] Maruti
Suzuki proclaims it to be the first LUV (Life Utility Vehicle). It competes with the Toyota
Innova, Mahindra Xylo, Tata Sumo Grande, Toyota Avanza and Nissan Grand Livina. This car
is powered by K-series 1.4 litre petrol engine. A diesel version of this car is powered by
Fiat's 1.3 litre Multijet engine. The car is based on extendedSuzuki Swift platform. This
means that the Ertiga is a monocoque MPV; the first in India. It is also considered to be a
cross between a saloon/hatchback and an MPV. It has beaten long-reigning Toyota Innova.
The Ertiga is said to be the production version of the R-III (R3) concept showcased by MSIL
at the Indian Automobile Exposition 2010. Moreover the name Ertiga is said be an
adaptation of R-Tiga where "Tiga" means "three" in Indonesian. The "R" stands for Rows.
Therefore "Ertiga" is derived from "R3" which in turn means "(Swift with) Three Rows".
Critics from various automobile magazines evaluated this car, and compared it with other
MPVs.
In the 16th Indonesia International Motor Show, three new concepts in the Ertiga's form are
introduced, the Sports, Luxury and Crossover version, which are actually Ertigas heavily
modified into concept cars. The normal version, in this case the GX, also appeared.
thanks .....

Toyota. Being an owner of Suzuki vehicles such as the 2005 APV A/T, 2013 Swift A/T and
1997 Esteem M/T, I could state for a fact na mahirap mag source ng Suzuki parts. Pero sabi
nga nila, the greter and paghihirap the greater and self fulfillment pagkatapos hehe...
If the Grand Livina, Spin or Ertiga was out 9 years ago, malamang hindi ako APV owner.
Now that the Swift is downsizing to a 1.2L engine, natuwa lang ako na nandyan na ang
Ertiga because as a 1.4L Swift owner... parehas ng makina ko yang Ertiga. Ibig sabihin,
So far after 15k kms (got our
unit September last year), di pa naman naming ramdam. Sobrang tipid ng Swift considering
na matic yung unit naming. Nasa P90 lang ako balikan from Las Pinas to Makati. Sadly, nasa
P300 ako sa APV ko. I am almost positive na mas maganda mileage ng Swift Maruti. Sarap

i-drive ng Swift, a true driver's car. I once did 160km/h sa Coastal and may ibibigay pa.
Maikli lang kasi Coastal.... ang maganda kasi, you wouldn't even notice na 120km/h na pala
takbo mo. Ganun sya ka-stable at tahimik sa high speed. Unlike sa APV na pag above
80km/h ka na, malakas na engine noise. My Esteem can do 60km/h on 1st gear and
80km/h sa 2ng gear. I did an Italian tuneup once sa may C5-Extension. Tanggal idling
problems ko hehehe. My point is, same engine lang ang APV and Esteem sans the
speed. So far, sobrang saya namin sa Swift (knock on wood, no jinx please). Talagang wala
ka lang aasahan sa cargo space but that's why we kept our APV.

GA:
1 din head unit
no power windows
no power side mirror
no tachometer
no mid row head rest
no 3rd row head rest
no concealed storage bin under boot
steel rims

Saw the ertiga panlaban talaga sa avanza much nicer. Only drawback for is the low ground
Ayan.... maraming kokontra sa sasabihin ko pero this is from my own experience. After
matapos ng warranty ko sa APV namin, I tried having my PMS or having my ride issues
I know na trial and error ang suspension or even idling issues pero one
So far, my 9yr old APV still looks and drives new. No major issues except when I had an
accident that caused a leak sa radiator ko (instead of getting a new one that cost P18k,
My 15yr old (around 2012) Esteem was even better as it could still do 60km/h on 1st gear
and more than 80km/h on 2nd gear. No know issue except for its idling issues which was
resolved by an Italian tuneup.
I am hoping that my Swift will be as good as my other 2 Suzuki cars since I'm planning to
have all its PMS done via casa hanggang nasa amin sya.

So you're saying you don't trust repair shops outside of dealer and yet you trusted a
reputable radiator repair shop. Sounds like a contradiction. Maybe you went to the wrong
shop. There are better and more reputable repair shops outside of dealer. You can't just go
to any neighborhood repair shop, find a shop that specializes in Suzuki vehicles.

Saw the ertiga panlaban talaga sa avanza much nicer. Only drawback for is the low ground
DanDang,
According to the car's specs, the ground clearance is the same as the APV, at 185mm.
I saw the car displayed at Robinson's Galleria this weekend. I did the cinderella check,
finding out if my 6'2" tall body of mine can fit without the steering wheel bruising my knees.
Front seats seems to have a wide adjustment length, so my legs are happy. When I went to
the 2nd row seats with the front fully pulled backward, my knees can still fit.
I might fall in love with this beast, but that will have to wait, when I'm done with my
payments with my 2nd ride.
Tried doing the same with the Avanza a couple of years back when I was searching for my
2nd ride. It failed me. I'm too tall for this car.

Baka ma-OT tayo dito.... For me, PMS jobs I go to Speedyfix. Serious issues, I go to the
casa, suki ko na ang Suzuki Shaw. Their mechs are still OK, as I still see some old faces
there, when the PMS was still free. So far, their crew is still good.
About a month ago, the APV's tranny making this strange hydraulic sounds. I thought the oil
pan or gasket got hit, but it was later determined that a missing screw on the engine cover
was the cause. Hard to believe, but the noise is gone.
I had a couple of serious issues before, and that casa team got it fixed and never failed.
Yeah, the parts are kinda pricey, so I source my parts from outside.

Again, I can only share from my own experience... although may mga disappointments din
ako sa casa (mostly on the long time they take for just a simple change oil), mas marami
akong bad experiences sa Esteem and APV ko outside of casa.
Also base on my OEM parts sourcing experience sa Esteem and APV ko (my Swift is
relatively new to be a basis), mas majority ng auto parts (including Olympia) kaparehas
lang ng presyo sa casa. May iba pa na nagte-take advantage at mas mahal pa ang presyo

knowing the scarcity of Suzuki parts.
Then for those parts na di naman kailangan agad (example: arm rest for my Swift),
warehouse nila.
Share na din ako ng tip... I've been a long-time customer na rin sa Suzuki Alabang (since
Suzuki Alabang. Ipinapadala sila sa iba't ibang training ng Suzuki Alabang to familiarize
them sa mga Suzuki cars. Naging ka-close ko din yung mga SAs dun which helped me a lot
kasi nalaman ko yung mga vendors nila for machine shop, aircon, etc. What I do now is to
get the parts from them and have them installed sa mga vendors nila. Malaking tipid din
since wala nang patong casa.
I should have know better. You can't
please everyone. But I'm here to help and would answer any questions base on my Suzukiownership experiences sa APV, Esteem and now sa Swift namin. Again, what I can share is
based mostly on my own experience and would respect others who does the same as it has
helped me before.

how long does it usually take a car owner that he bought a lemon car?
i remember one suzuki alto owner who got a lemon car and suzuki wont fix/replace it. iirc he
posted it on facebook and got all the attention then the rest was history .. eepek pa kaya
ito?
-ninjababezPwede pa siguro basta valid complaint and just document everything. And willing ka to go to
all the legalities.
Ertiga has ground clearance of only 185mm while the avanza has 200mm.

Ground clearance means almost nothing in a flood, unless you're crossing against a strong
current (which, no matter how high your flooring is... you should never do.
What really matters is air intake height.
Case in point: Ford Escape. The Escape and my CR-V are notorious for having low air
intakes for their height. Both have air intakes below headlight level. Which isn't any higher
than low sedans that have their intakes at hood level.

Niky,
Agree ako sa iyo, the air intake's location is crucial.
Taken for granted that the air intake is somewhere higher, but the moment water breaches
into cabin, we had a bad day. And I don't count on the rubber seals/gaskets around the
doors to keep the yukky water out.
But my APV has it all going for me. As long as the flood is just above midwheel, I can swim
with her anytime.

Well decided to get the ertiga. Will get it
tomorrow. I prefer the high ground clearance primarily for parking specially the stoppers na
matataas. Yung h.city namin lagi sumasabit yung bumper. And the high ramps na lagi rin
sumasayad ang bumper ng city. The ertiga is an inch higher so it will definitely lessen the
sayad. Dandang

marami stock.
Ayun nagkaroon
ng isa sa Wheels. Sana lang hindi ako magsisi sa Ertiga.
My very first Suzuki vehicle.

Actually yung ground clearance nya at swift pareho

Ertiga ground clearance
is 185mm, avanza 200mm, honda city 165mm dun sa puregold natanggal bumper ko.
Haha.
First hand experience when i brought out the ertiga is how light and easy the steering
wheels are. When i checked the tire pressure its at 36 psi. Sabi kaya siguro magaan
manubela. When i checked the normal pressure nasa high side pala ang psi nya when fully
loaded with 5 to 7 persons rear should be 37 and front should be 32psi. Had it blessed by a
priest. Fuel warning light is on so filled it up with unleaded gasoline 36 ltrs. Drove around,
suspension was soft hindi masyado matagtag. It could use additional insulating materials to
dampen road noise and bumps.
ang throttle response but don't expect it to be powerful.
Back up sensor din which casa is charging me

php4,700 for two eye only. Mura na ba yun? Kakatakot naman magpakabit sa labas baka
magkaproblema electrical at warranty.

Freebies, ordinary tint dagdag ako 3k para maging 3M, free khaki seat cover, matting and
free three yr LTO registration. Hopefully tumagal ng 6 yrs without any problems. My first
suzuki car. 812k less 25k promo

Meron ba tweeter yun? Akala ko cover only for future tweeter.
Not sure if
that is under coating. Palagyan ko na rin for additional protection from flying rocks and
debris, charge sa casa nasa 4k plus din when i inquired.

just able to read this thread from indiaautomobile forum. One of the member said the Ertiga
can run 15km/L even with 8 person on board, with AC fully on, plus that fact that they are
cruising at a speed of 90 to 130km per hour. The car never even felt breathless during steep
climb. The highest Km reading I red so far was at 20km for a petrol based trim. If this
figures/stories are true, indeed, this is really going to be a good choice after all.
Ertiga Mileage Details By All Ertiga Owners! - Page 5

super gaan manibela.
Ninjababez sa casa lang ako nagpa undercoat. Three days dry to the touch na sya pero one
week ako nag pa cure para sigurado tuyo. At least meron dagdag protection sa ulan and
corrosion.

NinjaBabez, undercoating usually takes almost the whole day, and you could take the ride
home with you when they're done. But the techs will remind you not to swim this to the
flood at least 3 days.
Do all cars have undercoat already?
ko siya on its 7th year.

Mga sir, FYI lng po, the front and rear bumper are made of plastic or maybe fiber.
and also check the front disc brake for rust or other abnormalities before getting
the car. For better riding comfort you can try to re-inflate your tires to 35psi, but still you
can stick to factory standard.

accessories wala pa po maski yung seat cover at car cover at rain visor ko to be follow pa di
walang undercoat.

that's already good lalo na kung slow moving... ever owned a car before or if you did it
might be small car? the ertiga is big with a small engine hence your fuel economy and kung
a.t. pa yan kaya malakas which is not really, may break in period pa yan.
if your looking for a superb fuel economy get a diesel innova or a mirage, in this day and
age you cant have it all if your not willing shell out more

Sir baka mali yung average ng consumption sa dashboard mo baka liter per kilometer..try
mo iread ung manual then set mo sa km per liter...kse I got 13km per liter sa hihgway at

nice economy i am happy and suprised suzuki is gaining ground here... in europe malakas
sila as well in india and indonesia even before the ertiga.
heck matibay naman talaga suzuki eh, even the high center gravity samurai was a reliable
4x4. want a reliable easy to maintain 4x4 get a suzuki. parts here are expensive since there
are few owners hence few importers of parts.

wala pa talaga makapagsabi kung reliable ba sya. Checked on some forums in India and it
seems that ok naman ang Ertiga. I just want to ask those who own a unit, what's the hassle

Hi sir, worry not much about the fuel consumption of your ertiga. at first the consumption
would average between that but as the kilometers files up or after you are done with your
2nd to 3rd PMS you will definitely see drastic change sa fuel consumption mo. Many Indian
ertiga owners claimed to reach about 20km per liter in highway driving fully loaded with 8
person on board and never got breathless even during stiff climb. Of course, none from us
yet can prove that right now since the car only arrived 4 months ago (if i'm not mistaken)
and most of the owners are still in the midst of observing their car, but give maybe at least
5 months more and let's see.
Although India and the Philippines are two different markets but the version of ertiga
released here is totally the same with what they have back there except for the diesel and
CNG version which I doubt can be seen in our soil as well.
I think the 100,000+ sold ertigas both in india and indonesian market would already speak
for itself how good this car is..and that
problem they are mentioning about parts and services? just turn the page.
Just my 2cents, thanks!

I really like this car kaya kahit anong sabi na mag Avanza na lang, sa Ertiga pa rin ako.
Wala ka masyado kapareho. Though subok ko na Toyota (My Dad is a Toyota fan and the car
I'm currently using is an Altis), siguro subukan ko naman to.
to. Sana pag nagka-issue, share share tayo. Negative or Positive feedback about the Ertiga.

tanghale..Pero malakas ac ng suzuki ..............,,,apv owner here...

Checked the fuel consumption based on full tank and distance travelled computation got a
9.6km/ltr and the computer says i get 9.5 km/ltr fairly accurate naman yung sa computer
fuel consumption. Went back to suzuki to have my tint replaced kasi meron maliliit na
bubbles. Pinalitan naman. Yes go for a higher quality tint para di ka magsisi. I added 3k for
my 3M tint instead of their freebie tint.

Finally saw it in the flesh yesterday at Suzuki Auto Sucat. Yes, it looks like the GA will only
have single a/c which is a deal breaker for me. I saw the GL and GLX matic. The bang for the
buck variant will be the GL for me.
Some pics:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...1&l=5aca528527

My findings on the GL with some compared to the Avanza and Spin LS minus the diesel
engine in terms of pricing range:
- the front passenger seat may not need to be pushed backward as the front passenger
legroom is superb. Good for adding more legroom to the second row. Middle row slides front
and back. Middle row seats +1 against Avanza E and Spin (fixed fold and tumble)
- GL variant gets both ABS and EBD. +1 against the Avanza E and Spin LS (none)
- GL variant already gets driver and passenger airbag. +1 against the Avanza E (driver only)
and Spin LS (none)
- Tried the airconditioning and I find that the blowers are somewhat on the weaker end at
full setting although I am quite comfy at the last row provided that the rear blow is set to
max. 4 rear middle a/c vents versus 3 on the Avanza. The spin wins in this category with 2
vents each row but fan speed also on the weaker end at the max level. Front aircon blower
nowhere near an Altis at full speed.
- EPS is very light, reminds me of a GE Jazz.
- No MT variants on display so I have yet to feel the clutch pedal.
- Accelerator is drive by wire. Light feel, throttle lag is almost not noticeable except for
OC's.
- Engine feels very refined compared to the K3-VE of the Avanza E. Still nowhere near the
economy and midrange torque of the Spin LS but that's a diesel.
- No rear wiper on the GL model. Avanza E wins this.
- 3rd row folds flat but is not split compared to a Carens. The current avanza has 50/50 splits
but will only fold and tumble. Spin has one-piece fold and tumble similar to the previous gen
Avanza.
- For me, this looks a lot better than both the Spin and Avanza but looks are opinion-based.
The spin has a really ackward rear end. The current Avanza's rear end looks like it got rear
ended with crumpled sheet metal out of the factory. Whoever designed that rear end should
be fired.
- GL's audio system already is the integrated type with aux and USB ports near the 12v
socket. Only the GLX gets the steering wheel controls and front dashboard tweeters.
- The missus will definitely love the beige interiors as with the previous carens but it will be

11

a PITA to clean.
- The 15" stock alloys suit it really well. +1 against the Avanza E and Spin LS.

Not bad at 712k for the GL M/T. The missus will always prefer a stickshift and so do I.

additional question me backing/parking sensor po ba tong ertiga?

first impressions after 200kms

very much car like handling, swift and nimble
sarap mag over take (dahil manual ata kse ako)
i can very much easily controll my FC (based on computer) due to manual shifting

Malamig aircon ng ertiga. Performace, i woulnd expect anything sa 1.4 engine. But its
sufficient. Maganda manakbo.
sakin.
Posted via Tsikot Mobile App

Posted via Tsikot Mobile App

this is very fuel efficient, your results are near the numbers from a website.
website numbers
ertiga 1.4 4AT 14km/l
spin 1.5 LTZ 6AT 13.5 km/l
Avanza 1.5 4AT 12.4km/l

Ok po ang hatak kaya nagtatanong po ako kung sino nag pa 1k pms and how much it
nagsabay na fog lamps and low beam.
Gumaganda na din fc ko. Unti unti umaakyat. Pero wala pang breakin na nangyayari.

Sa 1000 pms, ang pagkakaintindi ko ang babayaran is the labor. So expect to shell
out 1000 - 1500php.

Sir ang babayaran yung consumables like yung oil. Pero libre na oil filter and
labor.

advisor na libre labor and oil filter.

Other than that okay na okay, lalo na 'yung 3rd row
seat pagtinupi mo.
features then bigla dumating ertiga almost time to time...day by day ako nagbasa ng
forum.. youtube..review sa mga website and di nga nagkamali got top of the line na ertiga
siguro
Posted via Tsikot Mobile App

Oo nga eh, nababasa ko both vios and avanza eh puro problema.

Iilan lang 'yung
magandang feedbacks.
With spoiler na 'yon, 16 or 17 inch ang rims at dalawang muffler. Taob na naman avanza
niyan.

we are done with the 1k pms of our "malo", around p1,300.. i can't remember the exact
amount sir. yung oil lang ang babayaran.
suzuki erod is the branch,

Re: Suzuki Ertiga - 7 seater MPV

For those who were asking about if there are issues with Ertiga, yes it has.
But often times after 3 to 5 years of used or 40000 to 45000 km of run.
Issues may arise from gear lack of response during shifting, steering,
irritating noise coming from the seats, water droplets coming from the head
aircon unit and computer box malfunctioned when got wet. Of course this is
not an isolated case since even other brands may also faced the same
issues, remember that it always boils down to how you use it and take care
of it. So if you love your wife, you also love your car :-)

But pwed naman

Meron ba
may experience ng platinum tint o mas okay talaga 3M?

Don't get that free tint from your dealer, best thing to do is to ask them for
another thing that they can give you for free as a replacement for those
tint.for example free car cover, mud guard etc then have your car tinted
outside your dealer, you can choose between 3m,vkool or nanotech tints.just
make sure to transact only with an authorized dealer of that tint you are
going to choose..
Had mine upgraded to 3M tint. Added 3k for the tint sa labas kasi nasa 4,500. When it had
bubbles pinalitan naman nila.
Rounded price yan around 3400 ata not sure of exact price. And front visor lang hindi full
windshield tint.
3M tint isn't really much of an upgrade, get V-Kool. Tama si Walter, vkool is cool, got it for

Hi to all,
I have been on the look-out for an MPV. My choices are Avanza, Ertiga and Innova. I did not
include Chevys Spin anymore because of the fixed 2nd row seats.

15

I think the Ertiga has proven its performance and reliability since its in the Indian market for
2 years already. Its even competing against the Innova in some countries.
Maruti Ertiga : Official Review - Team-BHP
Just sharing the Maruti Ertiga thread above (with detailed review and owner comments,
100+pages), there is this feedback that
The Ertiga is not a comfortable 7 seater, its not even a spacious 5 seater.
Not comfortable as a 7 seater because its 3rd row seating is compromised (well same as
most compact MPVs) but I was able to check this in Suzuki Pasig and for me its roomier
than the Avanza, quite close to the Innova. Ingress-egress however is a struggle. So I
disagree there.
Not spacious as a 5 seater. Without folding the 3rd row seats, its boot space is not much,
not even the grade school trolley bags wont fit. If you fold the seats, its slanted so the bags
with wheels will just play around while you drive. Also, the backrest is beige, even the cargo
carpet, its an all out invitation to dirt. Not spacious as a 5 seater because when the 3rd row
seats are folded, you need to move the 2nd row seats forward which loses its leg room
flexibility thus a sedan is better in a 5 seater setup. This I agree.
Guys, I am not bashing here, nor I am a Toyota fan boy. Just summarizing what I read in
the link.
For me, below are the factors why I am still 2nd guessing w/ the Ertiga.
Beige interior color yes you can be a superman in cleaning but remember, we're looking
for an MPV, often w/ the kids, w/ your activities, sports and others, so cleaning can be an
everyday thing, and I am no superman
Cargo space as mentioned earlier, and again as an MPV, you will need cargo space,
folding the 3rd row sacrifices the 2nd row. You may want to put a roof rack, but this MPV is
car-like, putting a rack there changes its look, but this is more on preference.
I am posting this for more info for those who are eyeing the Ertiga.

Re: Suzuki Ertiga - 7 seater MPV

Amen to that bro. Actually I also read that review and I'm not sure why they compare the
Ertiga to Innova. For me it's like comparing silver to gold. For me it's the Ertiga-AvanzaSpin-Grand Livina. Honestly, my dad is a Toyota fan and he has been encouraging me to get
another Toyota (my previous ride was a 03 Toyota Corolla Altis). But if we will base on the
review of the Avanza owners(there's a thread here in tsikot) and Ertiga owners (threads can
be found in an Indian website), it seems that I see more complaints against the Avanza.
Given that Toyota is claimed to be a reliable brand (subok na ika nga), it actually depends
on how you take care of your car. For me, it's not the brand, it's how you handle your ride.
My altis has been with us for 11 years and the only major repair I made is the engine
support/shocks. I had no problem with the engine since it was well kept and maintained.
The point here is take care of your car, and your car will take care of you. Honestly, I'm still
considering the Avanza because of the brand but I would like to try a new one (sabi nila,
maiba naman). BTW, I tried to sit on the 2nd and 3rd row of the Ertiga and the space feels
enough for me (I'm 5'7). For the Interior, my plan is to cover the carpet with the free
matting and I'll buy a set of dust trap (or customized), Cargo Space, yes, you are correct, if
you fold the 3rd row, you would need to sacrifice the 2nd row a bit, but the solution is to
uninstall the 3rd rows headrest so you would have enough space in the 2nd row. =)
We just did it for the magazine. Trying to align schedules so we can have someone do a
review for the site, or so we can at least do a photo-comparison with the Avanza and/or
Spin.
I liked it. Some issues, of course... no car is perfect... but Suzuki did a good job on the car,
and it's a very strong choice against the Avanza and Spin. Can understand now, why Suzuki
employees are cashing in their discount benefits for this one.

CAR NEWS
The new Suzuki Ertiga has landed

by Niky Tamayo - Jul 17, 2014

17

So, it's official: The Suzuki Ertiga is now here. With much fanfare, Suzuki launched the Indian-market sevenseater at the Bellevue Hotel in Alabang on Tuesday, on the eve of typhoon Glenda.
The buzz around this Indian-made, Swift-based MPV has been pretty big, considering Suzuki isn't on most
people's radars. And that's because the Ertiga is big news for Suzuki. Is this a case of LUV at first sight?
LUV, in this case, stands for "life utility vehicle," which sounds a bit silly, but this is one "utility vehicle" you
can truly live "life" with. Despite the Swift connection, it's actually a pretty large car. Admittedly, the Ertiga's
cargo capacity trails that of the cavernous Chevrolet Spin, at just 113 liters--135 if you count the hidden
compartment--with the third row up and 810 liters with both second and third rows folded. But the incredible
2,740mm wheelbase--just 10mm shy of the Toyota Innova--and exclusive sliding second row give it
unparalleled seating flexibility and comfort. And headroom is excellent despite the seemingly low ceiling.
Refreshingly, the fit and finish seem better than the stubby Dzire sedan, which is also made in India, though
not quite at the level of the Japanese-made Swift 1.4. Yet, the Ertiga costs only P51,000 more than the Dzire.
And you get a whole lot of car for that money.
The basic Ertiga GA, at P619,000, comes with the same 95hp 1.4-liter engine as the P749,000 Swift
hatchback. Suzuki didn't have one on display, but we did get to sit in one at the Suzuki plant before the
launch. From memory, it comes with a basic 1-DIN stereo, steel wheels and manual door locks. It gets power
windows, but no second- or third-row headrests. The Ertiga's target competition, the Avanza 1.3 J at P639,000,
gets second-row headrests but lacks third-row seating.
The mid-level Ertiga GL comes in at P712,000, with ABS+EBD, three-point belts in the rear, nicer trim and
slightly fancier seat fabric, alloy wheels, a nicely integrated 2-DIN stereo, and those missing headrests. This
one looks to be the sweet spot in the Ertiga lineup. If you want it with the four-speed automatic transmission,
that will cost you P752,000. These cars undercut the two Avanza 1.3 E variants by P5,000 each.

18

The top-spec Ertiga GLX costs P812,000, and comes with keyless entry, steering-wheel audio controls, a rear
wiper, foglights, and all the other goodies on the GL. It's at this point that the competition gets interesting, as
the well-equipped and more powerful Avanza 1.5 G and the frugal Spin LS only cost a little more.
The Ertiga is available in six colors: Serene Blue, Firebrick Red, Granite Gray, Silky Silver, Superior White
and Dusky Brown.
Surprisingly, Suzuki won't be dropping the APV, which will soldier on for sale to fleet clients. Unsurprisingly,
interest is so high that sales had started even before the official launch, and some of those sales were to
Suzuki's own employees, who seem to have fallen in LUV with the new seven-seater.
At these prices, who can blame them?

Suzuki PH to introduce Ertiga compact multipurpose vehicle soon

by Vernon B. Sarne - Apr 14, 2014

SHARE:

If you drive on northbound EDSA, you may have seen a new billboard in the Guadalupe area that shows
the Suzuki Ertiga, with just a simple word accompanying it: SOON. Obviously, this means Suzuki Philippines
is soon launching the compact MPV, which is based on an extended Swift platform.
Sold and marketed in India and Indonesia by Maruti Suzuki as the LUV--or "Life Utilty Vehicle"--the Ertiga is
a five-door MPV that has three rows accommodating seven passengers. Expect it to be positioned against the
likes of the Toyota Avanza and, to some extent, the newly introduced Ford EcoSport.

24

In India, the Ertiga is available with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine and a 1.3-liter diesel powerplant. No word yet
on which power unit Suzuki Philippines will be bringing in--or whether both engines will be offered. (See
engine specs at the bottom.) Suzuki claims that the Ertiga yields 16.02km/L with the petrol engine
and 20.77km/L with the diesel. The official specs sheet indicates both engines are mated to a five-speed
manual transmission.
If you were to purchase this vehicle, which of the two engines would you prefer?
