ABSTRACT
One of the huge questions in front of the students is to decide whether to go fo
r self study or for coaching. Through this write up I have tried to analyse cert
ain untouched aspects of self study and very hopeful that this article would be
able to provide certain guiding principles/suggestions to the student community.
Personally I feel that Self study is a very good option for every student becau
se without self study it is very difficult to clear any examination. The main re
ason behind this thinking is coaching also involves a remarkable amount of self
study. Later on in this write up we’ll discuss this point. Another reason to go
for self study is the confidence factor involved in it. Successful self study ma
y give you an incredible amount of confidence to deal with any kind of subject o
r course.
Further we have to understand one more thing quite clearly that self study or c
oaching classes are not the sole deciding factor as far as success in profession
al examination is concerned. You may find various examples around you. There are
many students who have cleared their exams quite easily just by doing self stud
y and some of the students who have taken coaching are still struggling or vice
versa. So the main decisive factor is your honest efforts and commitment towards
your preparation and nothing else. Let us discuss certain pre-conditions for se
lf study entirely based on my personal observation.

INTRODUCTION

EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFULL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD…..
NELSON M
ANDELA
Education has an essential effect of the imparting type of culture from generati
on to generation as well as the education of individual human beings continues t
hrough out the life and at birth. In general term the word education derives fro
m the Latin, educare which is the meaning to raise or to nourish. Even the famil
y members may have a profound type of educational effect and profound the more t
han they realize, though the function of the family teaching is informally. Educ
ation is basically central to the development and a key to attaining the number
of development goals and it is one of the most powerful instruments for reducing
the poverty and it lays a foundation for the sustained type of economic growth.
The main goal of education is basically to develop the knowledge, character of
students or skill. Especially, the software s are also used for the business suc
cess.
However the educational process has been the subject of comment by the writers a
nd academics. The education is an easy step for criticism because its aims are s
tated like so nobly ambitious that are very little chance of being realized. Gen
erally, the education is defined as the process of obtaining some kind of knowle
dge and learning at school in the form of formal way of education. Well the proc
ess of education does not start, when the child attend the school first time. Ed
ucation part also begins at home. Even the child does not receive the knowledge
only from teacher, but they also acquire the knowledge from parents as well as t
he family members also.
But the main point is that the learning subject is not enough for especially in
the schools. Even the two types of knowledge are very essential for the successf
ul in life that is one can learn the history, science and math s related subject
s in schools and be book-smart. In addition they can also learned how to live th
e life as well as by knowing what to say and when to say, acting a various way a
nd various situations and be street-smart. Education is the most important part
in our life and no one should be deprived of it.
For example, you can have all type of book knowledge in all the world related to
a various profession but if you don t know how to behave with your co-workers o
r your superiors, then you won t get too far succeed in the life because it is n
ot compulsory for having the book knowledge only. The importance of education is
divided into two reasons. The first one is that the training of human mind is n
ever complete without the education and the second one is that the man is enable
d to receive the information from external world and they receive the all type o
f information regarding the present. Without the education, the man is totally l
ike a closed room. Even the human being is not in the proper sense till he is ed
ucated. Education is the most important part of knowledge of putting one s poten
tial to a maximize use and each kind of job path has shown its own step to succe
ss.

The education sector can be divided into three main areas:

• school education;
• further education (FE); and
• Higher education (HE).
Education also takes place in non-school settings, such as hospitals and prisons
. Teaching is the main area of work, but is not the only role in education. Ther
e are roles in finance, administration and technical support, with roles for tea
ching assistants and educational psychologists.
WHAT AFTER 12th???????????????????????????????
Student did well to successfully complete there senior secondary education, ther
e 12th. Now they have a big question what next???? That question must have come
up several times before you already probably even before you were out of school.
If you have a clear answer and you are sure about the career you want to choose
, very good. If you are not sure you are not alone and there is no need to worry
. There are thousand of students like you who are eager to take off but are not
sure which track they should take to reach the finishing line of a successful ca
reer.
Massive changes have taken place in the last few years in the Indian economy. Af
ter the economic reforms the rate at which multinational corporations have been
entering India has increased rapidly. Indeed many Indian companies have grown up
to the MNC in there own right, doing well in the international arena.
Whether it is steel producing or running a courier service every company has one
simple secret of success – quality manpower, now almost every company is trying
to compete not just with local companies but also global giants. Global compani
es operating in India have changed the recruitment scenario. It is no longer sur
prising if a smart, young business school graduate not more than say 22 or 23 ye
ars of age commands a starting salary that is double his or her age in lakh per
annum.
COURSES AFTER 12th
Once upon a time courses option after higher secondary were rather limited, they
are:
ENGINEERING
MEDICAL
CA
CS
ICWA
Today courses will prepare student for exiting careers in management and IT fiel
d. They are:
BBA
BBS
BHM
BMS
INTEGRATED MANAGEMENT
IT PROGRAMMES
COMPETATIVE EXAM AFTER GRADUATION
After graduation there are so many courses available for which we have to give c
ompetitive entrance examination to get admission in TOP COLLEGES, and even for G
OVERNMENT JOBS. They are as follows:
CAT
MAT
XAT
GMAT
BANK P.O
EDUCATION IS A JOURNEY NOT A DESTINATION
IT IS NOT THE SIZE OF THE DOG BUT THE SIZE OF THE FIGHT IN THE DOG THAT MATTERS
If I start by asking you what exactly links people as diverse as Mohandas K Gand
hi, Karsan Bhai patel, Barack Obama, Michael Phelps and Ray Kroc, What would you
answer?
I would say - Confidence. All the above mentioned individuals had loads of confi
dence in there abilities that made them rise above there backgrounds, there limi
tations, the weight of expectations and even there physical disabilities.
Often all other parameter being equal it is the difference in the quantum of con
fidence and self belief in individuals that determine success or failure. Many o
f us grow up thinking of mistakes as bad, and viewing errors as evidence of fund
amentals incapacity. This negative thinking pattern can create a self fulfilling
prophecy, which undermines the learning process. To maximize our learning it is
essential to ask: HOW CAN I GET THE MOST FROM EVERY MISTAKE MADE??????????
The answer is TRAINING. There are 2 types of training. One is ORGANIZED TRAINING
and other is UNORGANIZED TRAINING. Both are too different from each other.

TRAINING
There are two types of training ORGANIZED and UNORGANIZED training.

UNORGANIZED TRAINING:

Unorganized training are those kinds of training which students take from self s
tudy, studying from there big brothers/sisters who have passed out certain compe
titive exam. The unorganized training is good but not up to the mark because cer
tain knowledge we get from classroom training only. The success rate of unorgani
zed training is very less because it has so many drawbacks, that’s why people pr
efer for organized training.
Unorganized training means self study or get gudance by big brother/sister it ha
s so many drawback. They are as follow.
Selection of correct reference books is another essential pre-condition
for self study. It is also advisable to collect all the reference books well in
advance. One more thing time to time reference from your study module is also ve
ry important. Along with selection of reference books in advance it is also advi
sable to collect exam oriented notes from the very beginning and stick to them.
Kindly consider this point as a serious advice. During self study most o
f the time you study alone without interaction to anyone else. So self study may
be a failure if you continue your prepare without interaction with anybody else
. Remember a healthy and a light chit-chat can give your brain a much awaited re
laxation and energy.
There are certain topics like direct tax at Final level for which specia
l preparation or specific coaching is required and self study may not be suffici
ent from the point of view of conceptual clarity. So discuss these topics with y
our friends or with any experienced faculty/student to bring clarity of concept.
Another pre-condition for self study is availability of time. Going for
self study may be a bit risky when there is lack of time like you are preparing
for other professional course simultaneously or busy in your job etc. In other w
ords ample amount of time to study and superior time management plays an importa
nt role in self study.
ORGANIZED TRAINING:

Everyone wants Success. Majority start their journey towards success by crackin
g professional exams like IIT/Engineering entrance, CAT, IPS, PSC, IAS, IFS etc.
The seats are limited and the numbers of applicants are almost 10 times the vac
ancy. As a result, these competitive exams have become strict norms for selectio
n into any of the professional course. So by cracking these exams, not only the
students feel confident but this also gives them a choice to pursue the career l
ine of their choice.
Those who are not selected in competitive exams should not think that if they ar
e not selected then they do not deserve training in the course. Rather it means
there aren’t sufficient seats to accommodate them. Here lies the actual differen
ce between a normal Board exam and Competitive exams. In board exams or class te
sts, there are students of various intellect level varying from low mediocre to
intelligent students. But in Competitive exams almost all the students are of sa
me intellect level. As a result a difference of 0.5 marks can throw a student ou
t of the competition.
Keeping this background in mind, let us discuss our action points to succeed in
Competitive exams:
Determination : The most essential prerequisite for any competitive exam is Dete
rmination. No one can start his/her journey towards success without high level o
f determination. It is important that the interest to study and pursue the exam
remains same through the rigorous process of preparation. If you do not have hig
h level of motivation then it will difficult to continue the preparation and giv
e the exams.
Choosing the right course : Next important aspect of success is that analyse you
rself and try to find out which course or module interests you the most. After c
racking the competitive exams you will be pursuing a course which you will have
to practice throughout your entire life. So it is very important that you choose
a course with which you can do justice. For example: if you have interest in Fi
nance but enrolled for Medical coaching as your parents wants you to be a doctor
then you will land your life in a disaster. If you don’t have any interest in a
particular subject then it will be difficult for you to pursue the course.
Sufficient hours for study : Once a person is sufficiently motivated and has cho
sen the correct course for himself/herself, it is the time to study. One should
keep sufficient hours per day. Most people take up the preparation along with th
eir studies or job. Very few people can devote their entire time solely for prep
aration of competitive exams. So this becomes the toughest part to take out atle
ast 2-3 hours everyday to study. Thus we have to compromise a bit on our relaxat
ion to devote these 2-3 hours per day for studying. But it is important that we
don’t over stress ourselves because studying with stressed mind will not help an
yway.
Selecting the right study material : While preparing for competitive exams, the
main blunder is that students try to solve tough questions from the start. Don’t
go for shortcuts. Always study the chapter first and understand the concept in
detail and then start from the easiest problems followed by the tougher and the
toughest ones. If your basic understanding is correct then you can solve or answ
er any question. There are students who attempt the tough questions at the start
and as they fail to answer or solve them, they become depressed and loose inter
est to pursue the exams.
Study Regularly : The key to any success is study regularly. If you are devoting
2 hours per day for preparation then make sure that you devote the allotted hou
rs for your study dedicatedly. Haphazard routine will not help you in any way.
Make a Routine : Depending upon your daily commitments try to schedule a routine
for a week and try to follow it. Set goals at the start of the week and try to
achieve it by the end of the week. If you see that you are not able to achieve t
he goal then analyse what went wrong and try to rectify the same.
Study Strategy : Competitive exams are combination of 3-4 subjects. Analyse your
self to find out your strong and weak points. Try to devote at least 30 min ever
yday for the weakest subject. For example: If you are preparing for CAT and you
are very weak in English. Maths is your strength followed by Data Interpretation
. So if you are devoting 2hrs per day to study then divide your time in such a w
ay that you devote say 1hour for English and 30 minutes each for Maths & DI.
Use a stop watch : Always use a stop watch to track the time while solving or an
swering any question . Track the time and try to analyse if you are improving or
not.
Give Mock Tests: For the first 3-4 weeks just study and prepare the chapters. Th
en start giving mock exams to judge your preparation. As you progress try to giv
e atleast 2 exams per week. But don’t give more than 4 exams per week.
Final preparation before the exam : As the exam approaches, try to relax yoursel
f . Try to reduce the rigorous study schedule 2 weeks prior to the exam. During
this 2 weeks just try to brush through the chapters which you are weak and engag
e in light extra curricular activity to relax your mind. If you are stressed on
the day of the exam, then also the results can be adverse and all your effort wi
ll go in vain.

ORGANIZED TRAINING Vs. UNORGANIZED TRAINING – A MUCH AWAITED COMPARISON

ORGANIZED TRAINING
Coaching is not a bad idea at all especially for certain demanding subje
cts like Direct Tax etc. Reason behind this point of view is not only the techni
calities involved in the subject but also the need and confidence desired for th
e future professional working and practi ce.
One of the outstanding benefits of coaching is interaction or networking
with an enormous group of people which is very essential in today’s competitive
environment where networking is kind of indispensible. Further the proper guida
nce provided by the professional teachers/tutors along with exam oriented handou
ts is one of the major motives for students to go for coaching.
Alarm: But here we must understand one thing very clearly that the above
facilities involve a huge amount of financial burden as far as your pocket is c
oncerned which may not be possible for every parent or student to bear. Another
shortcoming/risk involved with coaching class is your interaction with faculty.
If you failed to cope up with teaching style of faculty than there may be some s
erious problem.
UNORGANIZED TRAINING
As mentioned above self study is one of the essential components of coac
hing classes and no coaching can be successful without the input or flavor of se
lf study. One of the major benefits of self study is that it is cost and time ef
fective and makes you compatible for the preparation of any kind of professional
course. Self study also saves your energy which is required for coaching classe
s.
It also removes your dependency on coaching classes and you can start yo
ur study immediately after registration. Self study is the real key which is dir
ectly connected to your confidence level
Alarm: We must remember one thing while going for Self study that Self s
tudy is a bit time consuming process and a lot of R&D is involved in it to succe
ed. In other words Self study demanded extra time to complete the course for whi
ch you have to prepare yourself mentally. A lot of discipline, planning and guts
required to go for Self study. However personally I feel that all the above men
tioned alarms are easily maintainable if you are well aware of your strength and
weakness and deal with the situation accordingly.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
“Research Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem.” It
is a science of studying how research is done scientifically. We study the vari
ous steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his research pr
oblem along with logic behind them.
RESEARCH
Research is defined as a scientific and systematic search for pertinent informat
ion on a specific topic. In fact, research is an art of scientific investigation
. It is a careful investigation or inquiry especially through search for new fac
t in any branch of knowledge.
I did study on the effect of organized training for competative exam on the suc
cess rate in the town in this exam.
RESEARCH DESIGN
Decisions regarding what, where, when, how much by what means concerning an inq
uiry or a research study constitute a research design.
“A research design is the arrangement of condition for collection and analysis o
f data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with e
conomy in procedure.”

NEED FOR RESEARCH DESIGN

Research design is needed because it facilitates the smooth sailing of the vario
us research operations, thereby making research as efficient as possible yieldin
g maximal information with minimal expenditure of effort, time and money. Resear
ch design stands for advance planning of the methods to be adopted for collectin
g the relevant data and the techniques to be used in their analysis, keeping in
view the objective of the research and the availability of staff, time and money
. Preparation of the research design should be done with great care any error in
it may upset the entire project. Research design, in fact has a great bearing o
n the reliability of the result arrived at and as such constitutes the firm foun
dation of the entire edifice of the research work
TYPE OF RESEARCH
My project report is basically based on the descriptive type of research.
COLLECTION OF DATA
It is often observed that data at one hand are not sufficient enough, so it is n
ecessary to collect the data from different sources that are appropriate.
Methods of data collection:-
According to the research methodology, there are two types of data collection, w
hich are as follows:-
PRIMARY SOURCE
SECONDARY SOURCE
Primary source of data collection
The data collected primary and has been obtained through
1) Personal interview

Personal interview were also conducted to obtain the individual opinion on The p
ersonnel interview mainly included the CO-FOUNDER of the different coaching ins
titute.
Secondary source of data collection
The secondary data collection was done through literature and information obtain
ed from various sources to increase the effectiveness of the project. Secondary
data mainly collected from
.Internet, Admission guidance form
Personnel police and programes report, magazines and gazettes.
AREA OF THE STUDY
My area of the study is various coaching institute and different administrative
offices outside of plant premises. The target is to obtain the opinion regardin
g the success rate of students in the town.

ANNALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

As we all know that organized training is always best compare to unorganized tra
ining, because organized training Career building is an important aspect of life
. The foundation stone of the course, the life would take, are laid by the care
er you chose. In the past, most of the people completed their studies and then d
ecided about their career in profession, but, the present generation has started
making career moves well before completing their 10+2.
Aim and Ambition of the entire coaching institute is to translate your dream int
o grand success. It’s important that you should be able to take right decision a
t the right moment. After 12th and graduation the student who goes for organized
training there chances of success is very high compare to the unorganized train
ing coaching institute will help you in saving time..and exact method for solvin
g questions..but man only self study will give u true clarity of concepts.. get
good books and yes if you want to join a coaching institute... be ready for som
e tough work and stress.. because they give you lot of work..be ready for grind
ing...if u cant work hard forget coaching.... it will only reduce your confiden
ce when you lag behind others..so even if you know the subject you will feel o
therwise since you did not solve the sheet..
The success rate of organized training in the town in top colleges is being coll
ected by the various coaching institue in raipur. The success rate of organised
training are as follows.

In the year 1994, 70%

In the year 1995, 80%
In the year 1996, 80%
In the year 1997, 92%
In the year 1998, 62.5%
In the year 1999, 77.5%
In the year 2000, 62.5%
In the year 2001, 77%
In the year 2002, 81%
In the year 2003, 72%
In the year 2004, 86%
In the year 2005, 90%
In the year 2006, 90%
In the year 2007, 92%
In the year 2008, 90%
In the year 2009, 62+ %
The tradition of excellence began with the experience and knowledge of designi
ng and creating the stunning impact in mind of the youngsters who are future gen
eration of India s technical world.

CONCLUSION
After preparing this semainar report I would like to conclude that organized tra
ining is advantageous compare to unorganized training, because it help the stude
nt to get the proper guid ance and way to properly study in step by step process
. It help in guidance, good book and time management. Even the students who are
facing the problem of financial problem the various coaching institute help them
based on MERITORIOUS STUDENT.
The rule of success are same : SELF-CONFIDENCE , DEDICATION, HARDWORK but self c
onfidence should not turn into Arrogance, Dedication should not be conditional a
nd Hardwork doesn’t mean mugging up head in books for 18 hours a day.
