WE ARE TO BE TRANSFORMED
Todays showing forth of Gods glory is filled with
a light that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured
on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles,
who see but cannot get hold of it. They can be forgiven
for not apprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and
Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed
up here on this mountain.
The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over
to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are
to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall
entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to
transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
St. Albert the Great Sacred Heart of
Jesus Eucharistic Adoration Chapel
is open 7 days per week 8:30 a.m. 8:30 p.m. Parishioners are needed to

commit ONE HOUR per week.

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION

The treasures of our tradition can often be traced to one source, but like the waters of a river branching out on its way to the sea, are received differently as they
filter through various cultures and customs. Long ago, mostly because of the preparation of candidates for baptism, the annual feast of the Lords death and resurrection was preceded by a period of preparation. In the West that comes to us as Lent,
a word drawn from the Old English word for springtime, referring to the lengthening
hours of sunlight in this hemisphere.
In the East, the tradition of preparing for Easter is received as Great Lent, to distinguish it from a secondary Lent preceding Christmas, and a two-week period, a kind of pre-Lent, that gradually introduces the
faithful to the austerities of Great Lent. One of the major differences between East and West is in the vigor of
the Lenten fast. In Great Lent the customs of fast and abstinence are far more strict than we are accustomed
to. For us, meat is off our Lenten tables on Friday, but in the East, meat disappears from the diet completely,
along with dairy products. Rev. James Field, Copyright J. S. Paluch Co.
DIRECTION The great thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in what direction

we are going. Oliver Wendell Holmes

On Sunday, February 14th at the 9:00 a.m. Mass, five Cub Scouts received their Catholic Parvuli Dei religious
Emblems, also five Cub Scouts received their Catholic Light of Christ Religious Emblems. These medals are
accomplished by each Scout working alongside their parents and family members to further their Catholic
faith. These medals were presented by Deacon Bryce and Joe Ferreri.

ABY WIARA BYA YWA

Gra Tabor, na ktrej toczy si akcja dzisiejszej
Ewangelii, jest miejscem niezwykym. Wyrasta z
paskiego otoczenia i robi wraenie swym
odosobnieniem. Tu Jezus zabra swych uczniw
z dala od zgieku codziennoci, z dala od tumw.
Gra Tabor wznosi si 588 m n.p.m., pokonanie
drogi na jej szczyt wymaga sporego wysiku.
Zmczeni uczniowie zasnli i nie syszeli sw
Mojesza i Eliasza o odejciu Jezusa w Jerozolimie.
Zobaczyli tylko chwa, wiato. Mona sobie
wyobrazi zachwyt i eufori w ich sercach. Lecz by
to tylko dodatek i oprawa do objawienia tajemnicy
obecnoci Boga w Trjcy jedynego. Potem obok,
strach. Obecno Pana jest bliska, a jednoczenie
nieuchwytna dla czowieka (por. Hi 9,11).
Czsto Bg dziaa w naszym yciu na sposb dla
czowieka niezrozumiay. Mamy Jego obraz w sercu,
wydaje nam si, e Go znamy. A Bg zawsze
wymyka si. Nie jest to gra, nie jest to ponianie
czowieka. On chce, abymy odkrywali Jego
obecno, wci na nowo, aby nasza wiara bya
ywa.
W dzisiejszym pierwszym czytaniu Pan Bg
prowadzi z Abrahamem pikny dialog. Gdyby kto
obserwowa t rozmow, to byby peen podziwu dla
bliskiej relacji czowieka i Stwrcy. Zaraz potem
Pan w tajemniczy sposb si wycofuje. Abraham
zostaje sam z niepewnoci, strachem, ciemnoci.
Bg dopiero po pewnym czasie przemawia do
Abrahama. Czyni to w inny, nowy sposb. Znamy
ten lk, pozorne opuszczenie. Mistycy nazywali go
noc wiary. Po tej nocy Pan Bg przychodzi do
nas w nowy sposb, a nasza wiara zostaje
oczyszczona i oywiona.
