Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
As you know, over the past several months we
have conducted a careful planning process to shape the
future of the Church in Pilsen. This process was
needed because of the significant changes in the
community and the Archdiocese, including
neighborhood demographics, lower Mass attendance
and an overall decline in the number of priests.
The Archdiocesan Strategic Planning Team for
this process, composed of the Vicar General, Chief
Operating Officer, the Director of Strategic Planning
and Implementation, the Vicariate III-E Dean and me,
recently met with Archbishop Blase J. Cupich to
discuss the configuration of the six Pilsen parishes: St.
Paul, St. Ann, St. Adalbert, St. Pius V, St. Procopius
and Providence of God. Our goal in considering a
reconfiguration plan was to continue serving the
Catholic population in Pilsen using our resources and
personnel in a more effective and pastoral way.
Together we have decided that, pending
consultation of the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council,
St. Pius V Parish, St. Paul Parish and St. Procopius
Parish will remain as the three central Pilsen parishes.
St. Ann will become a worship site of St. Paul, and
Providence of God will become a worship site of St.
Procopius. As worship sites, St. Ann and Providence
of God will continue to offer Mass and other
sacraments as determined by the pastors, but the sites
will be part of St. Paul and St. Procopius, respectively.
These changes will become effective June 30, 2016.
Additionally, due to the extensive repairs needed
and associated high costs, St. Adalbert Parish will
close. We are committed to walking with people
through this transition period and ensuring their
welcome into a new pastoral home.
The schools at St. Ann, St. Pius V and St.
Procopius will continue to function as usual and
provide the same level of spiritual guidance and
religious services and offerings for students as they
always have.
I realize these changes may be difficult, but I see
great value and opportunities for all parishioners in
combining the strengths, talents and traditions of our
Pilsen parishes.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo,

Como saben, en los ltimos meses hemos llevado a
cabo un cuidadoso proceso de planificacin con el
objetivo de dar nueva forma a la Iglesia en Pilsen. Este
proceso se hizo necesario debido a los significativos
cambios ocurridos en la comunidad y en la Arquidicesis,
incluyendo cambios demogrficos en el vecindario, una
menor asistencia a misa y una disminucin general en el
nmero de sacerdotes.
El Equipo de Planificacin Estratgica Arquidiocesana
para este proceso, compuesto por el Vicario General, el
Director de Operaciones, el Director de Planificacin
Estratgica y Ejecucin, el Decano de la Vicara III-E y
yo, nos reunimos recientemente con el Arzobispo Blase J.
Cupich para discutir la configuracin de las seis
parroquias de Pilsen: San Pablo, Santa Ana, San
Adalberto, San Po V, San Procopio y Providencia de
Dios. Nuestro objetivo al considerar una reconfiguracin
fue continuar sirviendo a la poblacin catlica en Pilsen
utilizando nuestros recursos y nuestro personal de una
manera ms eficaz y ms pastoral.
Juntos hemos decidido, pendiente de cunsultation del
Consejo Presbiteral de la Arquidicesis, que la parroquia
de San Po V, parroquia de San Pablo y la parroquia de
San Procopio permanecern como las tres parroquias
centrales de Pilsen. Santa Ana se convertir en un sitio de
culto de San Pablo, y Providencia de Dios se convertir en
un sitio de culto de San Procopio. Como lugares de culto,
Santa Ana y Providencia de Dios continuarn ofreciendo
Misa y otros sacramentos, como lo determinen los
prrocos, pero los sitios formarn parte de San Pablo y
San Procopio, respectivamente. Estos cambios entrarn en
efecto el 30 de junio de 2016.
Adems, debido a las amplias reparaciones que
necesita y los altos costos de las mismas, la parroquia de
San Adalberto cerrar sus puertas. An estamos
trabajando en otros detalles y en las fechas relativas al
cierre.
Las escuelas de Santa Ana, San Po V y San Procopio
seguirn funcionando como de costumbre y
proporcionarn el mismo nivel de orientacin espiritual,
de servicios religiosos y de otros servicios para los
estudiantes, como siempre lo han hecho.
Soy consciente de lo difcil que pueden resultan estos
cambios, pero veo tambin el enorme valor y las
oportunidades que habr para todos los feligreses cuando
combinemos las fortalezas, los talentos y las tradiciones
de nuestras parroquias en Pilsen.

Legion of Mary members are living out their
Apostolic Mission called for by their baptism and
confirmation with ministry work that focuses on the
Spiritual Works of Mercy. The goals of the Legion of
Mary Apostolate are self-sanctification and the glory
of God in bringing others to Marys son, Jesus Christ.

Its not too Late!

No Es Demasiado Tarde!

Ash Wednesday and the first Sunday of Lent is

behind us. It is not too late to help your children
fast, pray more, and give alms. God gives us another
chance to get started each new day.
Fasting: I am around children daily at St.
Joseph. When a child is asked, What are you doing
for Lent? Some will answer, Giving up candy or
being mean to my sibling. Those are some common
answers, but it is important to help young children
understand the purpose behind fasting. One purpose
is so we remind our bodies that with the help of God,
we are in control of our body. We live in a time of
immediate gratification. Our mind and body just
want to follow the way of the world. When you have
a craving for food, think about being in control and
not giving in too quickly to satisfy that desire.
Prayer: Do we encourage our children to pray
more? Think about praying the rosary or even a
decade of the rosary as a family. Create a jar of
thanksgiving and put your prayers of thanks inside.
Children love to have visual reminders, so cut the
strips of paper to make a chain. Each night take a
few minutes to write names of people needing your
prayers and watch your chain grow throughout the
season.
Alms: God blessed me with the opportunity to
visit Haiti twice in my life. I came back a changed
person. Of course, I heard stories and saw pictures
of people in third world countries. I did not speak a
word of their language, but they taught me how to
care for the small babies in the orphanage. My days
were filled with feeding, holding, changing, and
singing to the babies. These little children can teach
us all about what it means to share. As soon as they
receive a snack, they wander over to a younger child
in a crib and share a portion of what was just
received. They are living the gospel message. Why
does it seem so hard for us to share with others?
Operation Rice Bowl is a great opportunity to
incorporate fasting, praying for others, and sharing
with people of other countries. Its not too late!

control y no ceder a satisfacer el deseo de forma rpida.
Oracin: Como podemos animar a nuestros hijos a
orar mas? Piense en rezar el rosario o incluso rezar una
decena del rosario en familia. Crear un frasco de accin

oraciones y ver su cadena crecer durante la temporada.

buscan a los nios mas pequeos y les dan una porcin
de lo que acaban de recibir. Estn viviendo el mensaje
del evangelio. Por que es tan difcil para nosotros
compartir con los dems. La Operacin Tazn de Arroz
es una gran oportunidad para incorporar en ayunas,
orar por los dems, y compartir con personas de otros
pases. No es demasiado tarde!
