SJN Parish Choir

St. John Neumann will continue with the parish choir. This
choir is comprised of choir members and musicians from all the
Masses and is open to any parishioner who wishes to join. The
SJN Parish Choir will sing at all the Triduum services: Holy
Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil. The rehearsals will
be held on Feb. 28, Mar. 6, and Mar. 20 at 5:00 P.M. Please consider joining the
parish choir to offer praises as one body of Christians and singers.

ATTENTION LADIES
Womens Are you feeling like you are lacking something in your life,

but dont quite know what it is. If you are 18 years of age and
older, you are cordially invited to attend a three day ACTS
Womens retreat to be held at St. Anthony Convent
Retreat Center in San Antonio, TX. It will be on March 10
through March 13, 2016, come and receive a spiritual boost.

Nominations
Background of Pastoral Council
The purpose of the Pastoral Council is to assist
our Pastor Father Octavio in interpreting the
pastoral situation of the parish, reflecting about it,
and making recommendations to him. It is a
means by which all of the people of God in this
Parish can have a fuller participation in Parish
affairs. It provides a forum for the exchange of
ideas and it encourages, coordinates , unifies and
leads the Parish , under the direction and
guidance of our Pastor, in making the Gospel
known to parishioners.

The Pastoral Council consists of twelve members

in accordance with the Archdiocesan guidelines.
Our Pastoral Council Constitution and By-Laws
provide for the members to be selected each year
for a total of nine members. The remaining three
members are appointed by the Pastor for
indefinite terms. Members serve a three year
term.
Nomination & Acceptance Information
QUALIFICATIONS FOR NOMINATIONS ARE
AS A PASTORAL COUNCIL MEMBER
INCLUDE:

*Must be 18 years or older and a registered

parishioner.
*Must be in communion with the Roman
Catholic Church.
*Must demonstrate a commitment to the Parish
community.
*Must be committed to spiritual growth.
Parishioners accepting the nomination will
receive an application form. The names of those
parishioners who complete and return the
application form will be placed in a container, the
Pastor and appointees will pick the number of
names necessary to fill the number of vacancies
(Selection by Lot method)
Please begin to pray/meditate on your potential
nomination of yourself or another parishioner for
Election weekend.
All nomination forms are due in the parish office
by March 7, 2016 5:00 p.m.

Family at a Time
Marchs Parish Monthly Outreach - Project of Mercy will
be on March 5, from 8am to 3pm

This is an ecumenical Christian non-profit organization

whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing in San
Antonio through building decent & affordable homes in
partnership with Gods people in need. It is not a charity or
handout program. Families are helped to help themselves
through their personal involvement and sweat-equity put
forth in building their home. However, volunteers are the
heart of the organization. It takes volunteers to help build
the homes and truly make a difference for the families.
Please join us in being a witness to mercy by working
together and accomplishing our special acts of mercy
project. You dont have to be a professional carpenter or
master-builder! You only have to be willing to help. There
are many parts in building a houseso we can definitely
find one that fits your special gifts/talents. Volunteers must
be at least 14 years old.
If you would like to volunteer, please call/text me @ (210)

can also call the Parish Office at 654-1643 to volunteer.
We will meet in the front parking lot of SJN between 7
7:15am; and then all caravan and/or carpool to the job site at
8911 Excellence Drive, San Antonio, TX 78252.
Lets all encourage one another, our family and friends,
each of our brothers and sisters sitting next to us at Mass to
heed the call and participate in this Year of Mercy.

We received a letter from Fr. Heliodoro Lucatero from St.

Michael Roman Catholic Church. It read: I would like to
start by saying, Thank you for the wonderful donation of the
altar, ambo, and the candlestick holders. Because, of your
generosity and those of your parishioners, St. Michaels
Church has the privilege of sharing this wonderful gift with
our parishioners and the community. We are really excited
about the transformation this gift has given to our church.
St. Michaels Church will be celebrating its 15th
Anniversary this coming November, this gift is grand and
inspire a sense of the sacred, a wonderful addition to our
church and to our upcoming celebration. Thank you, again.

other hand, at times, like to find a stick to
beat others with to condemn others. And

Parish Monthly Outreach Project of Mercy

Our third Parish Monthly Outreach Project of Mercy took
place on Saturday, February 20. 38 parishioners, to include
our Pastor, Rev. Octavio Muguerza arrived early in the
morning at Haven for Hopeeager and willing to
accomplish our specially scheduled Project of Mercy.
However, after taking the mandatory orientation tour around
the entire compound, we all soon realized (and sadly
accepted) that the weather would not be cooperating; and
therefore, we would not be able to participate in the
thorough cleaning of the 600-700 foam sleeping mattresses
used every night by the homeless of San Antonio because,
they wouldn't not dry on time.
Many of us were down and dejected due to not being able to
accomplish our Project of Mercy. It just didnt seem fair
for the weather to be so un-cooperative. After all, werent
we all just trying to do the Lords work? Werent we just
trying to be merciful as our Heavenly Father is merciful?
It wasnt until listening to each other talk about what we had
learned, observed and felt as we walked the compound
periodically interacting with a resident or temporary visitor,
that each of us began to truly understand what Gods plan-reason was for us to be here at Haven for Hope, on this
Saturday morning. To help us truly grasp and understand
His plan, God provided us a very special tour guide, named
Nathan. Nathan had an unwavering passion for the mission
of Haven for Hope. Nathans compassionate and loving
heart for all those he ministersall those he encounters day
in and day out was very evident to each of us. He was a
great example of what serving and being merciful to the
least of Gods people is, though he (Nathan) who is not
Catholic. Nathan made each of us want to come back and
do what we can to minister and serve those who transit
through Haven for Hope. Through Nathan, God planted a
seed in each of us to always serve the least of His people
with a compassionate and loving heart. And through our
group, God planted a seed in Nathan toofor now on, he
will first refer worried mothers to the Allied Womens
Center and not even mention nor suggest Planned
Parenthood anymore. God is good!
