Description of Proposed Changes

Demolish existing niches, framing for north towers support, etc. pursuant to
scope of work as described by CAW within RFI #20, attached for reference.
This request for proposal is neither a change in the subject Contract, nor an order to the Contractor t o
perform any work. However, it pertains to certain proposed modifications to the work covered by said
contract. The provisions, drawings and specifications of said Contract and previous modifications thereto
will apply, as applicable, unless specifically indicated otherwise herein.
The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea hereby requests that the Contractor submit within ten (10) working days
after receipt of this request a proposal to make the changes described herein. All changes to the Contract
Price and Contract Time should be detailed for each separate item listed. Deta iled breakdown must include
deductive or added cost for all labor, equipment, materials and all applicable mark-ups.
Nothing written in this Request for Proposal will obligate the City of Carmel-by-the-Sea to incur any costs nor
change the Contract Time unless such changes are included in an approved Contract Change Order.

Request:

Refer to pages 5 through 7 for existing photos on the existing framing at the existing light tower locations. Please provide a framing
detail for the existing light towers.
Refer to page 3 and 4 for existing photos of the main stage framing and the existing roof over the indoor theater. Please provide
detail for new light towers showing the blocking-out of existing framings, bolt layout and required waterproofing.

Existing condition will support no more than 500# per lighting tower truss.
It is our assumption that the contractor will demo the existing "niches" (shown in photos) in order to
install the new footings shown on 82.2, in which case a new stemwall shall be installed at the
niche.
Assuming the city would like to upgrade this condition , we recommend that 6x8 ptdf beams
spanning from the front stemwall to the intenor stemwall be provided below each of the pairs of
legs of towers and the towers be attached with 1/2"diam (min) x 8" hd galv lag screws centered on
the 6x bms. Max tower axial load will then be approximately 20001bs. If the city des1res a higher
axial capac1ty, we can provide additional recommendations.

Our understanding is that Otto Construction needs information from the city regarding the new
towers (bolt locations, sizes, etc). Please forward this question to the City.
