Physical Infrastructure
While power generation is receiving continuous boost from time to time, power transmission is

efficiently managed by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited.


Kolar has a solar power unit with a capacity of 3 MW in Yelasandra. This is the biggest solar

power unit in India.


POWER
The only seasonal river in the district is Palar which flows across Kolar district.
The ground water level has dropped to alarming proportions that immediate measures are

required to restore water table. This can be done by connecting network of tanks in Palar basin
WATER

Desalting, Contour bunding, check dams are also planned to improve the water table

Kolar has 3539 primary schools, 266 High schools & 73 Pre-university colleges.
In higher education segment, the district has 8 general colleges, 1 medical college, 1 engineering

college, 1 dental college and 9 polytechnics.


The district has 180 libraries.

Kolar has 61 primary health centres along with 7 Government and 28 private hospitals.
The district has 394 drug shops and 4 blood banks
The district has a health capacity of 2,640 beds including public and private health facilities.
