B. Answer the following questions:
1. What kind of graduates should be produced by the colleges of nursing?
A graduate must be well prepared and competent to meet the demands
placed on todays nurses. They are expected for their skills in critical thinking,

leadership, care management, health promotion and for the ability to practice
across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.
2. In your self assessment, after finishing the BSN program, are you adequately
prepared for?
(1) Beginning entry level as staff nurses
After finishing the BSN program, I am thankful that the school have prepared
me in the entry level as a registered nurse. I was able to realize the importance of
identifying what I know and do not know, taking initiative, building confidence and
self-awareness in taking responsibility for every decision in the care that I provide.
(2) Researcher
I am not really confident in terms of being a researcher since the allocated
time for us to prepare for our study was too limited and the background about
research is not that sufficient to meet the demand and expectations.
(3) Leader/manager
Leadership skills take time to develop. For me it was slowly gained years after
I started working as a public health nurse. It is very vital in the kind of work that I
have to be an effective health provider.
3. Expectations from the course
My expectation from the course is to help me hone my knowledge, skills,
values and identity so that I will be able to practice nursing professionally and
competently in the changing social and health care environment thereby
contributing to the health and quality of life of those I serve.
C. Bring BSN curriculum from your school

skills to do our compassionate task in nursing.
The men and women of today who untiringly commit themselves to the advocacy of the nursing
profession and with our motto Service to God and Humanity.
The Nightingale lamp that signifies Florence Nightingales legacy to the present generation of nurses
and its lighted lamp that brightens our way as nursing education soars its wings to excellence.
