IT ALL STARTS WITH GOD

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have
been created through him and for him. (Colossians 1:16)
Today is the first day of the year (2016), I started to read Rick Warrens devotional book
What on Earth Am I Here For? This devotional book is not a self help book but a book
that will help me find my purpose here on Earth. It consists of 40 chapters which means I
have to read 1 chapter a day within 40 days. The first chapter entitled It All Starts with
God taught me a lot of wonderful and new things to ponder such as the following:

It is not about me, it is about God. My life should be devoted for Gods purpose and
not on my own selfish goals/objectives/ambitions.
I am created by God and for Him.
Life without God is meaningless.
To find my purpose, I should start with God.
The simplest way to know the purpose of an invention is to ask its creator.

As the verse says, For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth,
visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have
been created through him and for him. This verse reminds me of what my professor said,
One of the greatest tragedies in life is living a life without a purpose. All things including
me are created by God and all of these have purposes. At first I thought that my career,
family, etc are my God- given purposes but I today, found out that these things are
different from purpose. I might be successful in the future but that doesnt mean that I
already fulfilled my God- given purposes. To find my purpose, I shall start with God.
Theorizing or guessing is one of the options but the best and easiest way to know my
purpose is to simply ask God because Hes my Creator, my Potter, my Inventor so Hes the
only one who really knows what am I and what my purpose is. And of course, I shall have a
relationship with Him and read His words to gain heavenly wisdom and not earthly
wisdom. His words reveal His wonderful, awesome, perfect nature. His words also reveal
the answers to the questions that most people asked which are Why am I here?, How
does life work?, What are things that I should not do?, What does the future hold for
me? and so on. Bible reveals all things that are not in a philosophy or a self help book.
I therefore conclude that I am created for God and not vice versa so it means that life is
never and will never be about me. It is about Him. Focusing on me will only lead to
destruction but focusing and trusting with God will lead to finding my purpose and will lead
to having an eternal life. One thing that I learned for the past 2 years is that life without
God will never get me far; life without Him is meaningless and dreadful. So today, I would
like to congratulate myself because I am about to find my purpose.
