Biology explains life.

If you could see the world through my eyes you would see
questions to be born in so many whys that demand many answers and
explanations. I wont lie; life for me has been very hard so far but I still have this
dream to enter a university and learn how this miracle that we call universe works.
Every single time that I learn something new that involves biological sciences I get
inspired. Biological Sciences is the path to the future and it encompasses so many
different strands and specialisations. I would like to study this general field during
my undergraduate degree and then specialise to a more specific direction during
my Masters.
During my high school years I chose as directional subjects to have extended
biology, chemistry, marketing and graphic arts. For some this combination seems
illogical, but my point of view is that biology is my passion; the more I read the
more I come addicted to it. For example, in class I am literally hanging from the
lips of my teacher. Biology was the first subject I chose and it is naturally my most
favourite one! Chemistry makes me excited since the formulas and numerical
applications stand behind laboratory experiments. Chemistry complements
perfectly the study of Biology and it will prepare me very well for any higher
studies courses. My third extended class is marketing, the lesson which helps me
figure out how people think and act in specific moments and how the business
world manipulates consumers. Last but not least the study graphic arts brings up
my creative side. Throughout high school I participated in chemistry and biology
Olympiads; these academic competitions have filled me with confidence about my
knowledge and provided an inspiring opportunity to enhance my everyday study! I
was also a member of the school choir and of multiple activities such as
competitions that taught me the importance of cooperation and hard work. This
blend of knowledge changed me and made me more mature and open-minded. I
am ready to go a step further, and start working on a bigger vision which is to
begin my higher education.
I must have been around twelve when I heard for a very first time about genetics
and the name of the legendary man Gregor Mendel, the ultimate father of the
modern science of Genetics. I was so thrilled about this topic that as soon as I have
got home I searched for this field of biology and I was studying it for days and I
promised to myself that one day I will achieve my goal and become another
historical person. Since a little girl I had that bent of studying and searching

answers of life. I was looking online or in encyclopaedias about the evolution of

humanity; from hunting in the woods to landing in the moon. Or even the diversity
on our planet, about the numerous animals, plants and how all these affect Earth.
Biology hugs the world in a sweet way; it gives solutions of the most dangerous
phenomena. Mankind achieved a lot but it does not know yet the whole story, there
are gaps in the knowledge line and I want to be present when people discover
them.
From a young age I was dreaming studying in the UK because I have relatives and
I have spent many holidays in the heart of London. The UK is more than a
destination; this country has merged all the religions, cultures and different people
becoming one great nation that has been described as the land of opportunities. The
country also gave birth to many biologists like Charles Robert Darwin who stays in
history as the founder of the theory of evolution and Rosalind Elsie Franklin who
made contributions to the understanding of the molecular structures of DNA, RNA,
viruses, coal and graphite.
I have numerous targets in my life, but the most important one is to study Biology
at a university level which will equip me with knowledge and allow me to
contribute scientifically through my profession; if I can achieve that then I will be
really blessed.
