Like any self-respecting town in South Africa nowadays, Burgersfort is not staying behind.
Also not with service delivery protests. This group of residents from Riba Cross came to
town on Wednesday this week to protests the state of the village roads as well as the almost undriveable road to Ga-Riba on top of the mountain. Despite their smiles, they were
not very polite and the newspapers reporter left quickly.

Tender crook
trapped

The Sekhukhune District Municipality in Limpopo Province has opened a case of fraud at the Polokwane Police Station on 10 March 2016.
This follows the successful trapping of a fraudster who used a forged appointment letter of the municipality to try
a solicit a bribe of R12 million in return for an allocation of a R305 million water reticulation project from a civil and
construction company.
By the time of his arrest, the fraudster was on a mission to receive an initial payment of R500 000 from the unsuspecting representatives of the construction company, scheduled to be handed over in Polokwane. However, a trap by
officials of the District Municipality, SAPS, Hawks, and other business people from the District Municipality led to an
easy arrest of the suspect when he was trying to collect the money.
We view this arrest as a breakthrough in a situation that has been disturbing us since 2009. The arrest of the old
man who is a civilian from our District will send a strong message of how we are intolerant of fraud and corruption. We
have so far opened three (3) cases of this nature in Groblersdal Police Station and we are looking for positive results.
We appeal to other victims of this scam to come forward and confidentially brief us about these cases so that we can
get law enforcement agencies to apprehend these criminals. We are sympathetic to all the victims of this fraudulent
activities and we commit to support them said Executive Mayor, Mogobo David Magabe.
We are making a
clarion call to all citizens of our country to
refrain from clinching
deals in the dark places of the night. We
stand for accountable
governance and clean
administration. All our
tenders are publicly
advertised in newspapers, followed by
open briefing sessions
and selling of tender
documents. All the
bidders and qualified
bidders are appointed
duly and appointment
letters are issued by
Municipal Manager
Mma Mokoko.
It cant be correct
that a company can
win a tender without
bidding fairly and
openly with others. So
we request anybody
who have been approached to come to
our offices in Groblersdal or contact the
nearest police station
concluded Executive
Mayor Magabe.

Isaiah 40:6-8 (NIV)

6 A voice says, Cry out.
And I said, What shall I cry?
All people are like grass,
and all their faithfulness is like
the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withers and the
flowers fall,
because the breath of the Lord
blows on them.
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers and the
flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever.

A letter of concern

Run, baby run - but be visible

Platinum Gazette has also received a letter
(in Afrikaans) from a reader that complain
about runners in town that do no keep to the
traffic rules and regulations.
The reader says it is a problem especially
on the Lydenburg road out of town. Runners
run on the tarmac and do not yield for cars,
creating a dangerous situation, especially
if more than one runner runs next to each
other.

The road is simply not wide enough for

everybody. I am so afraid that I run one of
them over. When it gets dark, they also do
not wear enough reflective clothing so that
motorists can see them.
I do not want anybody to die.
(So there you have it comrades, if you practise for the Comrades, make sure you arrive
alive - Editor).

More rape near Leboeng

I wish to warn all motorists and public making use of the road between Kruis street and
Dirk Winterbach Street between the taxi rank areas on the stretch of road from the Boxer
Supermarket area.
On the morning 12th March 2016 round about 12:55 am I was just one more victim
in of so many others that got robbed at the robot at the corner of Kruis Street and Dirk
Winterbach Street.
Waiting at the red robot our car was approached by an unidentified man begging for
cigarettes from my wife. A second man appeared from nowhere on my side of the car
and forced himself into the open window grabbing my jewelry from my neck.
This problem of robbing innocent motorists and members of the public on a daily
basis is now been going on for years. There is no administration of justice in any way,
causing traffic congestion .
Loss of life had already happened in the past and it is going to happen again if the
local law authorities dont get their act together soon.

Inspiring even in difficult times
Modikwa soccer team visited HITACHI TMM

The games were played at Boksburg

The half time score was 3-1 to Modikwa with
Modikwa having better ball possession than
HITACHI. In the second half, HITACHI tried
very hard to minimise the score line but they
failed to beat the Modikwa goalkeeper who
was wide awake in all their attempts. It was
Modikwa again that found the back of the
net twice in the second half to leave the final
score at 5-1 to Modikwa. Ally, one of Modikwas players, repeated history whenscored
4 times against HITACHI just as he scored 4
times against the same team in September
2015 when they visited Modikwa.

Notice for golf players

Golf players at Tubatse Chrome Golf Club
should please take not that the Club is
busy hollow tyning the greens as it has
become necessary after the good rains.
This is a process where small holes are
made in the greens and filled with fine
silica sand, this makes the greens softer
and allows more back spin.
Players are reminded that the greens will
be sandy and slow for the next few days
until the grass has grown through the
sand.
