Introduction

With 700universitiesandmorethan35,000affiliatedcollegesenrollingmorethan20
million students, Indian higher educationis a largeand complex system. Morethan
85% of studentsareenrolledinbachelor'sdegreeprogramswithmajorityenrollingin
threeyear B.A., B.Com.,BBA or B.Sc. degrees. Through this research we wish to
find the level of satisfaction that BBA students from NMIMShavewith their current
course.

ResearchObjective:

Level ofsatisfactionamongst BBA students ofNMIMS inregardstovariousaspects

oftheircoursestructureanddelivery.

Methodology

TypeofResearch:

The type of research that has been used in this study is QualitativeResearch and
QuantitativeResearch.

The Qualitative research is aimed at gathering understanding as to what kind of

expectations could the students have developed and how satisfied were they with
regardstocertainaspectsofthecourse.

TheQuantitativeresearchisusedtohelpstudentsquantifytheirexpectationsaswell
as what they believeis being delivered inreality, with regardstovarious aspectsof
thecourse.

Alongwithquestionnairesthatweredistributedacrosstheentireresearch
population,Focusgroupswerealsoconductedamongsubsetsoftheresearch
population(i.e.studentsfromFirst,SecondandThirdYear).

SamplingMethod:

TheresearchsamplingmethodthatisusedinthisstudyisRandomSampling.

Although questionnaires had been distributed to the entire research population,

responsesobtainedwererandom.

The focus group participants were also chosen randomly. We conducted six focus
groupsamongst studentsfromthe First,SecondandThirdYear,eachcomprisingof
5 students. This was done so as to understand the changing perception and
satisfactionamongststudentsofeveryyear.

Questionnaire:

Thequestions askedto the FirstYearandSecondYearstudentsweredifferentthan

thoseaskedtotheThirdYearstudents,soastocaptureonlyrelevantopinions.

These questions required students to respond with ratings of their expectations

relating to various aspects of the course as well as with ratings of their actual
experienceofthesame.

FocusGroups:

The questionnaire had been designedto cover thegeneral perspectiveof students,

whereas the Focus groups on the other hand were designed so as to understand
reasoning and receivesuggestions from students.Students wereallowedtodiscuss
any aspect they wanted to, and were also given questions to discuss on so as to
ensureallaspectswerecovered.

The college could use the percentage system so we dont have to applyfor
conversionfromGPAtopercentage.
Other colleges following the GPA grading system, make it very easy for
students to get higher grades and when you apply for a job or for further
studies, your grades will be looked atand notwhichuniversity are you from.
This puts the students of NMIMS at a disadvantage compared to students
fromsuchcolleges.
