Aviapribor was established in 1917 to produce oil & fuel-pressure gauges, aerom
eters & speed indicators. A small pre-revolutionary workshop that produced tin-f
aced pendulum clocks (probably the Vasiliy Il ich Platov factory in Sharapovo Vill
age) was incorporated into this enterprise at the time this factory was created.
When the precursor to the 2nd Moscow Watch Factory was established by Gostrest
Tochmekh (State Trust of Precision Mechanics) in the late 1920s, the clock manuf
acturing operations of Aviapribor were transferred to this new enterprise. This
clock was manufactured during the period when the workshop was part of Aviapribo
r, probably around 1922 when the Soviet Union was formed to incorporate the Cent
ral Asian republics.
- See numbers 1396 & 1505 for other tin-face clocks signed Aviapribor.
