STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My undergraduate and graduate study in Computer Science and Engineering exposed me an

inspiring environment of learning and research. Throughout those academic careers, I completed
a good number of projects that provided me a good foundation of cutting edge techniques and indepth knowledge about real world problems and their intricate challenges. Through my
understanding of these challenges, I found better scopes where significant improvement can be
accomplished to foster the development of these issues. Hence, I decided to purse my Masters in
the department of Computer Science to achieve the goal. The state-of-art research conducted by
the faculties of the department is a great exposure for me to do meaningful technical contributions
in the areas of computer science.
During my undergraduate studies at Jahangirnagar University, a leading and well-reputed
university in the country, infused a keen sense of analytical reasoning and logical thinking process
in me. I had taken discrete math, algorithm, operating systems, software engineering, compiler,
networking, artificial intelligence and many core courses which provided a diverse domains of
knowledge in the field of computer science. Through the heavy load of the courses, I completed
several term projects that accelerated the design, analyze and implementation skills and showed
me a path to transfer the acquired knowledge into a working prototype. I also learnt a good number
of programming languages (C/C++, Java, C#.NET, Matlab) that enhance my skills on coding in
diverse programming environment to meet future clients needs. My undergrad project titled
Intrusion Detection & Prevention System using Mobile Agent focused on different aspects of
intrusion detection and prevention system. The project explored the possibility of bringing
intelligence to the IDS through the usage of agents which move across the network. It also
supported the forecasting techniques to predict the behavior of the users. All these experiences
created an innovative zeal in me to go through further studies and I believe University of Memphis
is the ideal place to start the journey of higher studies.
During my one year Masters (Thesis) program, courses like advanced database, distributed
operating system, e-commerce and e-governance, mobile and wireless communications, which
gave me a broad exposure of advanced knowledge on different cutting-edge topics. My masters
thesis titled Face Detection Techniques: A comparison between Statistical Analysis and Eigen
Face Detection provided a detailed statistical analysis of state-of-art face detection techniques
with my proposed technique. This research helped me to build up my motivation towards a
successful researcher. The graduate studies experience implanted the need to engage in innovative
works and build a research career in the field of computer science.
After completing my masters studies, I started working as a web developer at DataSoft Systems,
one of the major software company in the country. I worked in a team to implement mobile apps
for android phones that were used about 1 million online users of my country. Throughout that
development, I took part in designing the prototype, developing the web-services, performing the
software testing, and maintaining proper documentation of different versions of those apps. These
experience provides a real-world experience to understand clients needs and develop the required
modules to meet the demand. I worked with different teams and was able to meet the required
deadline to be successful. These works needed a good amount of research works to understand the

current ongoing need and how to make the requirements to a real product. I strongly believe that
my experience through working different projects build a solid base to utilize the theoretical
knowledge into the practical world and contribute towards mass population to make a better
experience with technology. Working with different teams made me understanding that higher
education in the field of software analysis, design and implementation is a crucial need to stay on
the top of the growth of modern software industry. Hence, having a masters in the field of
Computer Science at The University of Memphis will undoubtedly provide me a great boost
towards my future endeavor in life.
The University of Memphis is the leading university in the southern region that excels its growth
in research and education. In the field of Computer Science, The University of Memphis is
equipped with cutting edge technology, expertise and resources which align with my goals and
future aspirations. I believe that my background and expertise will allow me to contribute in MS
program through different projects and courses. I therefore, strongly believe that attending
Computer Science department at The University of Memphis would point me in the right direction
and accelerate my career potential.
