THE SILENT SIDE OF GLOBAL WARMING AND

CLIMATE CHANGE:

The atmosphere surrounding our earth is finite, so if any air is taken from it, there will be no
replacement from anywhere. There are over one billion (1,000,000,000) vehicles in the world
today, all depending on atmospheric air for getting around and even reserving some of it in spare
tires! This is not to mention industrial, agricultural, military and monster trucks and footballs. If e
average volume of one vehicle tire is 1 cubic meter and it contains atmospheric air compressed at
45 lb/sq inch, then the amount of air contained in the tire at Atmospheric Pressure is (45/14.7*1)
cubic meters; equivalent to 3.1 cubic meters. Since every vehicle has five tires, the mean amount
of atmospheric air taken by each car is (3.1*5), equal to 15.5 cubic meters. It follows therefore that
car users of the world at any given moment have removed (1,000,000,000*15.5) =15,500,000,000
m3 (approximately 16 billion cubic meters) of atmospheric air and confined it in the tires of their
cars.
The result of this air removal is that the atmosphere becomes thinner with the creation of a partial
vacuum. This partial vacuum sucks up more water vapour from the oceans at any given
temperature than normal and raises the relative humidity of the atmosphere in time and space
beyond normal levels. Unfortunately this water vapour cannot be retained for long in the thinner
atmosphere and easily saturates in the upper atmosphere and comes down as torrential
convectional rain. More rain than normal occurs at any given moment and place due to the fact
that there is less air in the atmosphere to retain a considerable amount of the moisture. In drier
areas, this partial vacuum sucks up the little moisture around and causes drought for longer periods.
This is what is being experienced in the form of torrential rain, floods and prolonged drought all
over the world today. The shrinking atmosphere also causes the ozone layer to thin out thus
reducing its protective function.

The Rising Oceans:

The original atmosphere retained a huge portion of the oceans water in the form of clouds and
invisible vapour. The net effect of our air removal is that at any given time, more water remains
in the oceans than would have been the case if air were not removed, thus causing the oceans to
rise and submerge small islands and low lying coastal areas. Release the trapped air and all the
excess flooding waters will be sucked up back into the atmosphere in a homeostatic self-control
mechanism of adjustment back to dynamic equilibrium.

Anything that floats and sinks displaces water and large volumes of waste material from land are
being dumped into the oceans, which combine with huge military submarines, aircraft carriers,
oil tankers, cargo ships, luxury boats and the millions of small boats and yachts, to cause further
water displacement. If the earths ocean were to be bombarded by a huge meteorite, the most
likely result would have been a tsunami and the whole world would have cried out, but no one
seems to notice the amount of water displaced by the millions of ships in the oceans around the
world; the silent equivalent of the impact of a huge meteorite.
THE BLAME ON CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS:
Although I am not against the theory of global warming blamed on carbon dioxide as a Green
House Gas (GHG), I do believe in the Homeostatic ability of our living earth to stabilize and
restore the atmospheric percentage of CO2 to it known estimated value of 0.03%. What is more,
our earths atmosphere is such that every poisonous gas is readily absorbed in the water vapour it
contains and the more poisonous a gas is, the more its solubility in water. Poisonous gases like
Chlorine, Fluorine, Nitrous oxide, sulfur dioxide, Ammonia, Carbon monoxide just to mention a
few, are very readily absorbed by the moist atmosphere and Carbon dioxide is mildly soluble and
taken up by the billions of tons of sea weed and other water plants around the oceans of the world
which occupy 0f the worlds surface. More carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere by
these aquatic plants than all the trees of the world put together.

Solutions to the problem:

(1) The world has to develop a transport system that precludes the confinement of air so that
we return the 16,000,000,000 m3 of atmospheric air presently confined in our tires back
to the atmosphere. We could explore the use of solid rubber for vehicle tires and expand
the use of rail transportation.
(2) Owners of all floating objects on the sea which invisibly displace sea water should pay a
water displacement tax for the construction of sea defense walls around all threatened
areas of the world such as endangered islands.
(3) All footballs not in use should be deflated and special taxes imposed on soccer games for
climate change mitigation.
