Clearing Internal Media Jams on the MC 2400 Series (q1004015)
Description:
Clearing Internal Media Jams on the MC 2400 Series (q1004015)
Solution:
To avoid damage, always remove misfed media gently, without tearing it. Any pieces of media left in the
printer, whether large or small, can obstruct the media path and cause further misfeeds. Do not reload media
that has misfed.
The image is not fixed on the media before the fusing process. If you touch the printed surface,
the toner may stick to your hands, so be careful not to touch the print face when removing the misfed
media. Make sure not to spill any toner inside the printer. CAUTION
Unfused toner can dirty your hands, clothes, or anything else it gets on. If you accidentally
get toner on your clothes, lightly dust them off as best as you can. If some toner remains on your
clothes, use cool, not hot water, to rinse the toner off. If toner gets on your skin, wash it off with cool
water and a mild soap. If you get toner in your eyes, wash it out immediately with cool water and
consult a doctor.

If, afterclearing the media misfeed, the misfeed message in the control panel window persists, open
and close the printer's covers. Also, you can try disconnecting the communication cable, then reboot both PC
and printer. After both machines reboot, reconnect the communication cable.

If you are unable to remove all the jammed media, lift the green fuser lever on the right side
of the printer next to the right envelope tab. This will give you more access to the fuser area. You
may even use tweezers if necessary to try and grab small edges of the jammed media. Be careful
not to gouge or damage anything with the tweezers.
4. Next, inspect the back of the empty tray to ensure it's is level (locked in place), using the palm
of your hand to press it downward into place if necessary.

If there doesn't appear to be any media jammed but the message still persists, click here
for information on verifying fuser sensor.
Also, you can ensure that there are no residual particles left in the paper path by using a
manila envelope to clear the path.
