Purpose:

Job

Plan, monitor, direct, guide, oversee & control liaison & external affairs activities of company with
central government ( Ministry of coal, environment & power ) and state government( Jharkhand
& Chhatisgarh) offices such as Environment, Forest, Industry, Labour, Home, Education, Police,
secretaries, Coal Ministry etc for obtaining & expediting necessary government approvals,
sanctions, notification for coal linkages, bauxite leases required for smooth operations at
manufacturing locations in line with overall business objectives.

Hindalco industries limited has an integrated aluminium complex at Renukoot & captive
power generation plant at Renusagar with a metal capacity of 3.50 MT/annum & power
generation of 744 MW/annum. Hindalco has been continuously expanding its capacities since
its commissioning as part of its growth strategy. Smooth, effective & uninterrupted operations
at manufacturing locations require company to maintain effective & cordial relations with
government machinery & politicians. Companys main liaison & external relation office is located
at state capital
i.e. Ranchi, which act as a nodal point to liaise with state government department, officials,
politicians, ministry, state boards etc for obtaining necessary approvals, sanctions, notifications in
terms of licenses, uninterrupted coal supply, environment & pollution clearance, forest clearance,
power supply etc for existing operations & future expansion of company. Major Challenges:
Getting the work done from government agencies / machinery in favour of company in less time
& cost. Establishing effective rapport & relationship with government officials especially in view
of changing political situation. Tactful handling with government officials & avoiding any
potential liabilities to company. Jharkhand being highly politico sensitive state, and Hindalco
being a well- known company in the region thus pushing & pursuing companys work in favour
of company without extending any un-due benefit requires extreme tactfulness & negotiation
skills.

action. Approach concerned department for approval /
sanction. Regular monitoring of the progress of the
proposal. Furnish data / information required by
government officials. Negotiate terms & conditions on
behalf of company. Apprise management on each project
status. Arrange site visit of officials. Follow up the matter
with respective Officials for speedy approval / renewal.
Obtain final approval and communicate to respective
offices at manufacturing locations.

Liaise with coal ministry & concerned officials. Conduct


meeting with top officials of coal ministry, NCL, etc. Seek
appointments with top officials / ministers at state &
central level for organizing meeting with COO / Business
Head Follow-up with concerned officials for issuing
government o r d e r s for supply of coal. Follow-up
Allotment of coal with Coal Ministry & timely supply of
coal with Railways at sr. level. Attending meetings at
Delhi / Kolkata / R a n c h i and maintaining cordial
relations with central govt. officials and chairman, Coal
India.
Ensure timely Bauxite Mining Lease Meeting highest govt. authorities for timely release of
