AUTOMOTIVE FUNDAMENTAL ENGINEERING

OBJECTIVE

1. To learn abaou t the system of suspension

that used in nissan gtr .
2. to know about the geometry of double
wishbone suspension.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM

1. the term given to the system of springs,

shock absorbers and linkages.
2. contributing to the cars handling and
braking.
3. keeping vehicle occupants comfortable.
4. protects the vehicle itself and any
cargo or luggage from damage and
wear.

DOUBLE WHISHBONE
SUSPENSION
Consists of upper and lower arm suspension
known as independent suspension
using two wishbone-shaped arms to locate
the wheel.
Each wishbone or arm has two mounting
points to the chassis and one joint at the
knuckle.
The shock absorber and coil spring mount to
the wishbone to control vertical movement.

ADVANTAGES OF WISHBONE SUSPENSION

more rigid and stable than other suspension systems,
suspension provides the engineer more free parameters
rather than some other types of suspension do.
Provides increasing negative camber gain all the way to
full jounce travel,

DISADVANTAGES OF WISHBONE
SUSPENSION
may take more space and is slightly more complex than
other system.
the suspension set up it takes much longer to service and
is heavier than an equivalent

less design choice than the more costly and

complex multi-link suspension system.

Overview of Nissan GT-R R35

Suspension
The Nissan GT-R has an advanced
suspension set-up offering excellent
straight-line stability.
There is a set-up switch which allows the
driver to access three different suspension
modes:
R (high performance),
Sports (the normal setting)
Comfort (for city driving to absorb
road bumps).

CONCLUSION
Suspension system is responsible for
smoothing out the ride and keeping the car
in control.
Suspension system maximizes the friction
between the tires and the road to provide
steering stability and good handling.

Worn suspension components may reduce

the stability of the vehicle and reduce
driver control,
