Wolves crush Maryville Freshmen


18-9 in baseball action
An impressive two-way
performance from Brody
Cooper led East Atchison
Wolves to a 18-9 win Monday, April 4, 2016, over the
Maryville Freshmen in
Maryville, Missouri.
Cooper got on base four
times in the game, scored
five runs, and had two RBIs.
He singled in the fourth inning.
Each team blasted the
others pitching and there
were 27 total runs and 12
hits during the game. Managers of the two teams seemingly emptied their bullpens
in search of the win, as there
were eight pitchers used in
the game.
The top of the first saw
East Atchison Wolves take
an early lead, 2-0. Gage McAdams got things going for
East Atchison Wolves with a
single. The scoreboard lit up
again for the Wolves when
Andrew Thomas scored on
an RBI single by Gage McAdams.
The Wolves never trailed
after scoring three runs in
the third on an error and
a two-run single by Shae
DeRosier. They built upon
its lead with four runs in the
fourth. Cooper started the
inning with a single, plating
Dylan Jeffords.
The Wolves beat Maryville
thanks to nine hits, including one extra base hits. The
Wolves scored six runs in
the sixth on a hit by pitch,
a walk by Andrew Thomas,
an error, and a three-run
double by Connor Shaw.

runs in the bottom of the
fifth helped East Atchison
Wolves close its deficit.

The Tarkio High School
Scholar Bowl Team will
compete in the District competition Saturday, April 16,
2016, at Tarkio High School.
The event will begin at 2:00
p.m. The public is invited to
attend, although seating is

at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April
13, 2016, in the Tarkio Elementary Gym. The real tryouts will be Friday, April 15,

Tarkio High School senior


Gentri Paige Staten, daughter of Mark and Lori Staten,
has been selected to receive
the Luretta Ruth Turnbull
Memorial Scholarship. Gentri will be attending Northwest Missouri State University this fall for an intended
field of study of business
management. The scholarship, named to honor Mrs.
Turnbull, a lifetime resident
of Tarkio and a 1936 graduate of THS, is for $1,000 and

is the third in an annual series.


Rebecca Turnbull, spokesperson for the family, said,
Gentri was selected for her
outstanding academic record, her leadership skills,
her strong work ethic, and
a commitment to the Tarkio
community. We have every
confidence in Gentris ability to succeed in her chosen
field and know that she will
be an asset to Northwest
Missouri State University.
