Bitterroot National Forest releases dates for 2010 Moon Walks

Hamilton, Montana, May 3, 2010 – For the 10th year the Bitterroot National Forest will conduct a
series of interpretive “Moon Walks” throughout the valley from June through October. These walks
are based on the book by Francis Hammerstrom, Walk When the Moon is Full, which is about her
children and the nature walks they took every month under the full moon.

This popular program will be held once a month as the full moon glows and creates shadows long after
the sun has set. The setting allows participants to still smell the flowers, feel the wind, hear the water,
and sense the wildlife all while under the cover of comparative darkness.

These presentations by local interpreters and naturalists will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Several of
the dates will also offer a short guided hike for folks who would like to walk the trails in the area 1
hour prior to the presentation.
