Backstory
Darathorn Aladil was born to poor
peasant farmers of the village
Grandil. They worked day and night,
praying to the god Ilmater at sunrise,
noon, and sundown every day while
facing east towards the great
mosque. Aladil, at a young age, could
not afford to go get an education and
had to support his family on the farm
along with his 7 other brothers and
sisters. He was a very pious boy,
enthusiastic to pray to the one god he
loved. While not working on the
fields, he picked up a wooden sword
and trained in solitude of the forests
that covered the small village, hoping
for the day that he could serve his
god with his own blood against the
forces of evil. One day while little
Darathorn was in the forest training,
he suddenly saw smoke rising from
his the location of the town. As he ran
back to look down on the village, he
saw a band of dark and dirty Tieflings
over the body of his dead father and
brother, with his mother and little
sisters being raped. The village was
being ravaged and most everyone
had been slain. Darathorn, filled with
rage, charged down the steep slope
into the town. However, the savage
Tieflings he encountered at the first
stop knocked him with one hit and
raised their swords for the final blow.
At his last breath, he saw into the
brown, evil eyes of the Tiefling and
an arrow landing straight between
them. Alas, he looked to the east and
as the sun started to lower, a group
of royal paladins came charging
down the hill and into the village.
They slaughtered each and every
Tiefling in their way and saved
Darathorn's life. In the aftermath, only
Darathorn and few other boys were
left alive. Inspired by the Paladin's
Piety and nowhere else to go,
Darathorn and the boys joined the
Paladins as acolytes on the quest to
righteousness and against the forces
of evil.
