On April 11 in Gowrie the Lady Jaguars opened
the golf season winning the first conference quadrangular shooting a team total 235 followed by Sioux Central

Carson Shipley shot 72 and Hannah Vaughn 82. Modified
scoring leaders for JV were Payton Erritt at 74, Hannah
DeVries and Paige Garcia with 81. Coach Blunk commented it was great to win the first meet of the year. The
first meet is so important to get the kids thinking about
meet golf and getting a feel for what we need to work on
and where we are at. I am confident we will improve. It
was quite cold but the girls hung in there. This is a great
way to start the season with three wins.
April 12 at Lakeside in Fort Dodge the Lady
Jags golf team defeated St. Edmonds at Lakeside Golf
Course in Fort Dodge 235-253 to improve to 4-0 on the
season. Tiffany Blunk anchored the Jags earning medalist
honors with 49. Sage Michalski shot 58, Marydith Barkley 61 and Anna Hanson 67. Carson Shipley and Hannah Vaughn each shot 72. JV scores were Payton Erritt
with 65, Paige Garcia 73 and Hannah DeVries 87. Coach
Blunk commented we shot the exact team score as last
night on a new course so we improved. We just have to
keep working hard at practice and try to get better each
week. Our competition is going to get much better so we
need to try and do the same.
Traveling to Rolfe on April 14 the Lady Jaguars defeated Pocahontas Area shooting a team total 238.
Medalist Tiffany Blunk led the Jags with 54. Sage Michalski tied for runner up medalist with 55 but was defeated in a playoff. Marydith Barkley shot 57 and Hannah

was a busy week with three meets but Im happy with our
progress. We have a long ways to go but are improving.

The girls finally got a good night to run in. The
times were not where the coaches wanted them to be but
overall performances the coaches were happy with by
placing 3rd out of 12 teams. Coach Swieter said we need
to take it to the next level at practice and at meets in order to get our times down. Weather has not helped with
this but hopefully now we can get back focused and have
good nights to run in and get those times where we want
them.

Thank you!
Deep Gratitude,
During the past four year I have had the opportunity to meet many people from Dayton and the surrounding
area. Whether at community events, at the Southeast Webster
Grand School, worship services, or on the streets, I have met
many of you. During my last weeks many of you have been
kind and express good wishes.
As I leave this community where I lived and served
as pastor of Emanuel Lutheran Church, I am thankful for this
community of caring people. Thank you for your support and
words of encouragement.
As I prepare to begin serving a new congregation
in Northwest Washington, I recall the many memories and
wonderful people who crossed my path. Best wishes to you.

Landowners call
the Law Enforcement
Center
When conducting a burn...
Webster County Emergency Management is requesting that landowners in Webster County call the Law
Enforcement Center, my office, Webster County Sheriffs
office, or their local fire chief to let them know if they
plan on burning in the county.
Webster County currently does not have a county wide burn ordinance so it is important to notify officials when burning.
The issue we get is when a landowner conducts
a burn, someone that drives by or sees the fire calls 911 to
report a fire. Then dispatch will send out the appropriate
fire agency based on the caller information.
The rural county departments are volunteers and
are coming from all different locations in an emergency
response only to find out it is a controlled or intentionally
set fire by the landowner to remove CRP, untilled/grassy/
crop residue.
The information we are requesting on a burn is:
Callers name, address time/date of burn, and the callers
phone number.
Contact Information:
Law Enforcement Center 573-2323
Webster County Sheriff 573-1410
Webster County Emergency Management 573-1403
Or your local Fire Chief.
Thank you,
Scott Forbes

Choir
Heatherington receives
Webster County Farm
Bureau scholarship
Congratulations to Anna Heatherington for being chosen as one of Webster County Farm Bureaus $500
scholarship winners. Anna is the daughter of Denis and Lila
Heatherington of Fort Dodge. Anna is currently a senior at
Southeast Valley High School in Gowrie and is planning to
attend Iowa State University in the fall.
During high school, Anna has been involved in student council, FCCLA, National Honor Society, Math Club,
Spanish Club, softball, track, cross country, the spring play
and musical.
Anna has spent a great deal of time volunteering
in her community by participating in FFA and 4-H, ringing
bells for Salvation Army, working at the Village General
Store, working church suppers and speaking in front of the
congregation, and participating in the Otho Memorial Day
Service.
Anna credits being born into a farm family with her
appreciation of agriculture and realize the vital role farmers
have in todays society. I started learning about the family
farm operation at a young age. As I got older, I eventually
bought and showed my own cattle and drove the tractor myself. My work experience varies from helping build a fence,
to bottle feeding a newborn calf, Anna explains. Her experience has made her want to learn more about agriculture and
share her knowledge and enthusiasm toward a business near
and dear to her heart. Anna is planning to enter college in the
field of Agriculture Studies with a possible minor in Communications Studies. She says, I dont want to leave college
with just a degree; I want to leave college with experiences
that will last a lifetime. One dream I have is to visit a third
world country to volunteer and learn more about other cultures. Iowa States study abroad program can help me fulfill
this dream.
Webster County Farm Bureau congratulates Anna
and sends its best wishes for all of her future endeavors.
