PROJECTS HANDLED:

M.Tech project:
Bimetallic heterogeneous photocatalyst for dye detoxification: Color versus COD

reduction. The main purpose of this dissertation is to regulate the usage of artificial UV lamp
based high operating cost arising TiO2/UV based photo-catalysis and to use the solar UVirradiation available for a specific place primarily determines the cost of a solar-based water
treatment system. To extend the usage of TiO2 in visible region TiO2 was doped with metal
(Cu/Ni). Synthesized catalyst was applied for degradation of dyes and color removal, COD
removal was determined. The mechanism of dye degradation was also proposed and toxicity of
the reaction mixture calculated.

Project under course work:

Project work was carried out as a part of the course work of the subject Optimization

Techniques in which it was required to demonstrate the implementation of the different

techniques like Linear programming: Simplex method; Nonlinear programming: Sequential
Quadratic Programming (SQP), generalized reduced gradient method (GRG) and penalty
function methods; mixed integer linear programming (MILP), mixed integer nonlinear
programming (MINLP), evolutionary optimization techniques: Genetic Algorithm, Simulated
Annealing, particle swarm optimization. These techniques were used to solve in designing and
problem solving using MATLAB and MS-EXCEL solvers.

B.Tech project:
Optimization of MDC recovery process to reduce the batch cycle time in the final

DMAC recovery column. To reduce this batch cycle time of final DMAC recovery certain
modifications are made through this for recovery of MDC in the final DMAC recovery in phase
25 of orchid chemicals and pharmaceuticals, by altering the design by introducing continuous
distillation column by which cycle time is reduced. The design of Vacuum distillation column,
Heat exchanger, Mass and Energy balances for overall reaction.
