"Tables 1-5 are used to summarize data for each buffer or control. FOR ALL MEANS
, PH CHANGES, AND STANDARD DEVIATIONS, YOU MUST ENTER THE APPROPRIATE FORMULAS,
INCLUDING CORRECT CELL REFERENCES. (e.g. '=AVERAGE(B11:Mll)' is the average of t
he data values in cells B8 through G8, and '=B11-B17' is pH change for the first
sample in Table 1.) Do not include the quotation marks, but the equal sign (=)
must be included for all formulas. For more information, see Lab Report Instruct
ions in Lab Manual or Excel Instructions posted in UB learns."

Questions
1. State a reasonable hypothesis for this experiment. (0.5 pt; Remember that a h
ypothesis is a statement)
The hypothesis for this experiment was that buffers help control change in pH va
lue.

2. What was the negative control for this experiment and what did it control fo
r? (0.5 pts)
The negative control in the experiment was HCL and it controlled the change in p
H value.

3. Was your hypothesis correct? Explain your answer. (0.5 pt)

Yes our hypothesis was correct as the negative control had an effect on our depe
ndent variable.

4. Which of the solutions - including controls- was the best overall buffer? (i
.e. smallest mean pH change)? (0.5 pt)
Bio buffer 3 (apple juice)was the best overall buffer
