Basic Details
GAA will provide access to both credit and non-credit contents. The latter may include
keynote speeches, guest lectures, student seminars, etc. There are no restrictions on the
submission of non-credit contents.
At least initially, credit-based courses should address topics relating to Asia, particularly its
diversity, values, or global role. Also, for ease of transferability, they should be classifiable as
liberal arts or introductory level courses. All credit-based courses should be endorsed by the
Chief Official of the offering university to ensure a high standard of quality.

Duration
Credit-based courses should follow a 15-week schedule, including one week for a midterm
exam (optional) and one week for a final exam. This schedule should correspond with the
spring or fall semester at the offering university. Specific course dates will appear on the
GAA website.

Workload
Two lectures of at least 25 minutes in length (preferred), or one lecture of at least 50 minutes
in length, should be offered during each week of the course, except those allocated for exams.
The overall coursework load should be suitable for two academic credits. This is estimated to
involve between 76 and 96 hours of student work, including the lecture periods.

Lecture Structure
Lectures should follow the format outlined in the image below.

Content Types
Class contents typically involve video (or audio) lectures with accompanying materials such
as PowerPoint slides. The choice of content type should be based on the nature of the course
and the production capabilities of the contents creator.
The table below lists some of the recommended types of content.

File Size and Format

There is no maximum file size, provided the contents can be viewed conveniently in the
country where they were created. Also, they may be sent in any standard digital format (avi,
mkv, flv, mp4, etc.). [An address for file uploads will be provided later.]
Ideally, video contents should be digitally recorded in a studio. Editing software should then
be used to sync the video with any supplementary materials used and to introduce any desired
templates, examples of which are available on request from DSU. Contents must be in a
fully-edited format when submitted to DSU for upload to the GAA platform.

Please try to minimize movements as much as possible while recording.

Please use the stop button as little as possible once recording has begun.
