Cuando se impone una fuerza (esfuerzo), por ej. de tensin
en los materiales, se produce una elongacin con su
correspondiente deformacin
La elongacin produce
tambin contracciones
en las direcciones
laterales (x,y).
Resultado: deformaciones
compresivas

RESUMEN
Esfuerzo (Stress) and deformacin (strain): Son
mediciones de carga y desplazamiento (deformacin)
independientes del tamao
Comportamiento Elstico: Este comportamiento reversible
muestra una relacin linear entre esfuerzo y deformacin.
Para minimizar deformacin, seleccione un material con
un alto mdulo de elasticidad (E or G).
Comportsmiento Plstico: Esta deformacin permanente
ocurre cuando el esfuerzo uniaxial (tensin o compresin)
alcanza sy.
Dureza: la energa necesaria para romper un
volumen unitario de material.
Ductilidad: deformacin plstica en fractura.
