Prorn the bottom of our hearts-, we send thanks .for the wonderful way in

In December the

It made it very hard to

teach.the children adequately. So after much discussion, prayer, and

physical effort, we decided to divide the group Into two, and to meet
on Tuesdays and Vfednesdays, beginning the first Tuesday in January,
This will be much easier for everyone concerned and will solve the
space problem. But now T-re need mure Bible pictures, old workbooks,B.nd
old Bible co.lendar pictures. These are a great help in the spiritual
growth of tho children. When they can see the people and things over

which we talk, these Bible truths remain with them. The Germans have
very few Bible pictures or ra atsrialy, so we put these calendar pictures
in frames and use them as rcj'.''ards for attendance -and bringing someone
new to Bible Hour, The children ar.e really proud of these things
which v;e in Amesrica throw away at the end of the year, We can use
these things to help spread rhc Message, so please think of us before
you throw things away.

The week before Ohristmos, I had to take my test on the German language

June News letter of 1966

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May brought into being many changes, both physically and spiritually. One of
the spiritual opportunities granted unto us, was that of preaching and teaching at
an Army base just outside of Landau, West Germany. As you know from May*s Newsletter
one of the service men from there gave his life to Christ, and was baptized into our

Lord here in Stammhim, and from that time on, the Lord worked in the hearts and lives
of many of these people, placing within their souls a hunger for more spiritual food.

Since the Army base had no Chaplain of religious services, ^harles McConnell and
Stanley hardawo.y approached me W2.th the request of my holding preaching services for
them, on their hearts. So as of Haylst-, we have been serving the I.ord in the
Landau area, along with the children's work.

Yes, many changes have been taking place.. And one of these is the preparing of
D.V.B.S, materials for the German children

fhis iis.s been one of our hopes and

dreams for a long time, '"nd now thanks be to a German printer, we have been granted
a special set up and rates. K'le teacher's quarterlies and the workbooks are being

rinted and with the Lord's help, these books v.'ill be ready for use by July. There
are materials for the Beginners, Primary, and Junior age groups. Our main concerns
now are teachers and classroom space for 70-90 children, as this is how many we have

"tbe highest attendance the third week of May) in the Children's Bible
BSt we have tal'.en this to the Lord and we're sure He v/ill show us a way.

He

will open a door of oj>v;ortu.nity to us, if we are but patient. Please pray for these
two great needs, and also for the D.VrB.S. as it will be the first one to have ever
been conducted in our area. With God as our Father and Ohrist as our Guide, all
will go well.
\

The Children's Bible Hour has been growing continuallyboth numerically and

spiritually, for which we can only humbly thank God, He has been drawing more and
more children unto himself to hear His Truths proclaimed.

We have been so very

disappointed in the adults here, concerning their lives. The majority of them are
so hard-hearted, when it comes to r'ltigion-dv.e to the State Church-that they always
say something like th5.s to us, "Oh, we're so thankful to know that you're interested
in my child's spiritual welfare. Of course our child or children may come, but I'm
so busy, I just don'-''* ^^ave time to go to ChmchJ" And so the Lord's Kingdom is
moving forv/a.vd through the children. Never fear though for we are still working
toward an adult gronp. For we know tliat in due season, the adults will open up

their hearts and lives to Christ too. ^_t TIMS is the lingering problem. We have
found that no one here has enough patience^ It's
to keep calling on the people
and talking with them concerning Christ's great, uuerdiiig -love, when they show some
interest, but always have a list of excuses v;hy they "don't" come or "can't" come.
Prayer is the only key to the hearts of f.hose people. And it is our prayer that
the Holy Spirit will v;ork in these hearts and help them to realize that without
Christ as the center of their lives, they are lost. Please join us in this prayer
that wonders will be done for Christ through the working of the Holy Spirit.

Also,'we request your- faithful pr lyers on our behalf* At times we become

discoTiraged and feel that perhaps our effort are in vain. But each time this

happens, the Lord shows us different. If our work for Christ is in vain, why does
the Children's Bible Hour continue to grow? If our calling program is in vain,
why do we now have 4 Children's Bible Hour periods in one week, instead of just
one? Well, T'll tell you why. Because God has used our small, meager efforts
to help many hearts to be molded in the ways of truth before the devil could

harden them against His Word. Oh, it's so hard to fight on at times, but when
we do, God's blessings are so rewarding.

We difinitely do-have one big, pressing need, and that is for Helpj
need
a secretary to help with all our correspopdence, and to assist us in the teaching
of the Children, -At prestne, all of the children are. taught in one big class.
But the teaching could be so much more effective, if,this group could be divided
into classesage groups* Now' is thq door-.of opportunity open, but how long
it will.jremain, _open, tha.t we do-not knov;,_Will you respond, J:o.,.,the__great spirit
ual need here and let the Lord use you ,tp help meet the Lord'.s need for more workers

in the Black-forest Arria? If so, please write us immediately^ and we will help
you in ruiy way we dan to inform you 'and help prepare you, The need is great]
Please take it to heart.

May God bless each of you as you continue to faithfully labor for Bhriat
where you are,'

Yours in Christ,,

Dear Friends in Christ:

The Devil never seems to let God's Children have time out for a vacation or for

a. minute's peace. He is in the way continually as one strives to serve our Lord.

Once again he has seemingly been making much progress. Bi..t our wonderful Lord and
Savior has been making even more. If you'll permit us, we v/ould like to share a
few of these very trials with you. Perhaps our trials will help you, as your exper
iences help us to grow in the Lord,

As many of you know, we had worked several months on making workbooks in German
for Daily Vacation Bible Schoolj, All of this ivas in 196'+, But since our usage of
the language was'riot fluient enough to meet the needs upon our moving to Stammheim,
v;e continued to master it, with the Lord's help and guidance. Through the Lord's
guidance and leading preparations were made for Daily Vacation Bible School this
summer.

First, there was the printing of the Books to take care of, God provided us
with two capable printers who were more than happy to takd. on the work without pay
We were asked to pay for the needed materials. These two young people are wonderful
Christians, who witness daily for our Lord, There were 300 books printed, one
hundred copies being printed for each class: the Beginners, the Primaries, and the
Juniors. But, as things usually do now-a-days, the needed materials cost us much
more than we had expected, therefore, our mission fund is in the Red If you have
an extra dollar or two that you would like to designate to the printing of these

Bible workbooks for the German children, just send it to our forwarding agent,
marked "Mission-Printing-Bill" and I know the Lord will repay you 100 fold
With this great challenge conquered for our Lord, we set to work, in search of
some help and assistance in teaching one of the classes. We received the answer we
had been waiting for"yes, I'll help." A German young man, who is a dedicated

Christian, offered his services. But Sa.tan wants to always make sure that God's
Children are really willing to fight on, no matter what the test or trial may be.
And so, duo to a mix-up of dates on this young man's part, we found an express
letter in our hands, 15 minutes before the D.V.B.S, was to start, apologizing for
the mix-up

He was immediately forgiven, '^ut seemingly Satan had won his battle. Wewent to the Lord for strength and guidance. With the Lord on our side we faced the
challenge with a smile.

There were between 30-40 children in attendance for the

first day of Bible School, with the attendance increasing 5 more each day, Janice
taught the Beginners and I tv-^ught the Primaries and Juniors. Altogether there have
been 60-70 different children that have attended the Children's Hour,
Even then, the devil wasn't satisfied, until Janice was taken to the hospital
due to a false diagnosis by one of the German Doctors.

lstS'*'marvelously that even he Doctors were amazed at her quick recovery It ?;as the
prayers of faithful Christians, and God's all healing hand, which brought her back
to Debbie and me so rapidly. We truly thanlc God

There is a saying, "The Show must go on>!" And in our case the Lord's work did#

then continued with the tv/o other classes. Oh, yes, we had problems, problems of
all kinds. But the Lord's victories have been innumberable during the past two
weeks. Many young people have drawn closer to their Lord, and many have been
seriously considering a new life with Jhrist, Please pray for them. Their souls
are so precious to our Lord,

If they can only see the need of giving their lives

completely to Christ now and living for Him, what a glorious life they will have in
our Lord and Savior,

We have been so very discouraged with the way the German adults have responded
to the teachings of our Lord and Savior, But, oh the blessings we have received
from our work with the children. It takes a lot of work, on our part to have things
ready for the children each week. And ati times we feel as though we can't go any
further. But God has alv;ays seen us through and blessed us beyond words. Is our
working with the children all in vain? In Proverbs 22:6 God's Word says, "Train up
a child in the way that he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it,"
Help, us -to-he. able, -tocontinue_this-wo-rkSacou-rag-e others -to come-and-hel-p-wi-th -

the Lord's work in Stammheim and the surijounding area. God has in store for His
Children many blessings. He needs helpershere and NOWl The work is too much for
one couple. Our health is weakening. Pl|ease pray that the Lord of the harvest will
send more workers today, to help reap the harvest. Let each of us do all that we
can for the cause of Christ,

May God richly bless each of you, as you serve Him,
