STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

With an utter pleasure, I feel glad to introduce myself as Anil Shrestha. I am a

permanent resident of Kathmandu, Nepal residing at Jorpati, Narayantar. I am very
much dedicated and ambitious student who is willing to study Master of Professional
Accounting in the Central Queensland University (CQU), Sydney, Australia for the
July intake 2016.My parents are totally engaged in the transportation business which
made me to choose management faculty in higher school with specialized in
marketing .Besides this, I have a primary vision to work in the leading business
institutions of my home country. Through this statement of purpose, I intend to
disclose my personal, educational background, career goal that I have set and the
specific reasons to continue my further studies in Australia and particularly in the CQ
University.
I have passed my SLC (School Leaving Certificate) from Manakamana Higher
Secondary School, with Distinction securing 81.88% in the year 2008 AD and
completed my Higher Secondary Level from Himalaya International Model Higher
Secondary School in 2011 with 73.1% in first division. As I have keen interest in
Banking and Management sector, I further joined Bachelor of Business
Administration (BBA) in 2011, in Modern Nepal College, Bagbazar, Kathmandu,
affiliated under Tribhuvan University of Nepal, which I successfully completed in
the year 2015, with a Distinction Grade A securing 3.69 out of 4.0 Scale CGPA.
During a course of my four years BBA program, I acquired lots of theoretical as well
as practical knowledge about the business management. During the 8 th semester, I got
an opportunity to do an internship for 2 months at Citizens Bank International
Limited (CIBL) which really helped me to boost up my mind and theoretical
knowledge into a practical experience on my related field as well as for the growth
and development of my career.
The most important reason for choosing Australia as my next education pathway is
due to availability of course Master of Professional Accounting. Australia has very
good international recognition of an academic excellence after the USA and UK as
well as the best education system of the world. Australia is considered as a leading
education powerhouse; the third most popular international student destinations in the
world, providing internationally recognized degrees and sound facilities to the
international students. Apart from this, optimal climatic conditions, as well as the

equitable cost of living, affordable tuition fees, multi-cultural diversified environment

are the plus points of Australia for a global students to continue their further study as
compared to other countries. In addition, Australia is one of the most secure and
peaceful place to live and study. In the context of Nepal, we have other similar
courses of masters degree related to my further education which are Master in
Business Administration (MBA), Master in Business Studies (MBS), and Master in
Business Management (MBM) .But the specialty course like MPA is not available in
my home country, Nepal. The courses of masters offered in Nepal are not updated
well and paper based only, because of this I have an interest to study MPA in
Australia. Though other countries like USA and UK also offers Accounting courses
but their immigration, courses enrollment procedures are not smoother.
With the options of studying at various universities of Sydney, I have particularly
chosen Central Queensland University (CQU) for my Post Graduate Program of
Master of Professional Accounting in Sydney Campus, for July intake 2016. The CQ
University was originally founded in Rockhampton in 1967 and was known as the
Queensland Institute of Technology (Capricornia). By 1974, it was among only a few
Australian institutes to commence the delivery of distance education. CQU has many
campuses throughout Australia; including in Adelaide, Brisbane, Bundaberg,
Emerald, Gladstone, Mackay, Melbourne, Noosa, Rockhampton, Sydney, Townsville,
Yeppoon, Charters Towers and Edithvale.
CQ University Sydney is located on 400 Kent Street, Sydney NSW 2000. With over
more than 2000 students, CQ University, Sydney is the campus with the largest
student population.CQU offer a variety of support services in order to assist students
to develop the personal skills needed to achieve both academic and career goal. CQU
is a public university with strong ongoing relationships with its communities,
industries and businesses. CQU is Queenslands first dual sector university rated five
stars for internationalization offering a wide range of programs and higher research
degrees. The flexible study options with full award or non-award programs, teaching
methods based on industrial realistic need and requirements, high-tech multimedia
labs, extensive student support services etc attracted me to choose CQU. In addition,
CQU provides one of the best combinations of perfect balance of theoretical and
practical learning classroom offering a wide range of industrial relevant programs
across any Australian University. Diverse range of scholarships offered by CQU to

the deserving students is another important factor that attracts me to be the part of
this university for achieving my career goal.
Accounting is the backbone of the business finance world. Proper accounting and
proper financial management has always been a core ingredient of business and
economic growth which plays a key role in enhancing the organizational business
strategy smoothly. I believe that finance and accounting are part of everyday life;
from a simple family to the biggest multinational company, INGOs and government.
Accounting is the fundamental aspects of business that is required in the entire parts
of the organization structure without which it is impossible to imagine about the day
-to- day business performances.
CQU offers MPA with 16 courses for having 96 credit hours in total and is listed
under CRICOS code: 084507M. This program is fully accredited by Certified
Practicing Accountants (CPA) Australia and the Chartered Accountants in Australia
and New Zealand (CAANZ), and meets the membership requirements of the Institute
of Public Accountants (IPA).
After completion of masters program (MPA), I plan to return to my home country as
I have a primary vision to work in the leading business institutions. The knowledge
and work related practical experiences will help me to realize the benefits of a
growing development in the field of business institutions and banking management
being Auditor, Credit manager, Finance manager, Taxation consultant, Financial
controller. Besides this, my targeted companies to work as a professional accountant
are leading FMCG manufacturer, Chaudhary Group, Dabur Nepal, INGOs,
Government ministries of an expected salary within the range of fifty to sixty
thousand Nepalese Rupees per month. However, the salary for manager and officers
are likely to increase with the work experience and training. However, there still exist
traditional old techniques and practices in Nepalese Accounting and Business
Management. After being graduated in MPA, I will introduce the new ideas &
sophisticated methods in my home country that I will gain from Australian market
and business institutions.

Australia for gaining a better and quality education until the completion of my Post
Graduate Program (MPA).
