Today is Pentecost, we are 50 days from the

Resurrection of Christ, and we officially conclude
Easter. We will also be transitioning the Resurrected
Christ back to its normal position this week to signify
the end of the Easter season.
The apostles find themselves in the same upper
room where they had the Last Supper with Christ
before his Passion. The question is, why are they in
that same location? To answer that we must look at
human nature. The room was a comfort zone for the
apostles and it can be a reflection for most of us as
well. When we are complacent we always seek
something that is familiar to our hearts. However, the
Christian Life requires more than this, it involves
action. It needs active participants to keep the Church
alive.
Christ taught his apostles how to leave their
comfort zone. Did it work? Well, no. Christ was
crucified and he resurrected and he found them in that
same upper room. He ascended into heaven, and you
guessed it, they went back to the upper room. Ten
days after the Ascension of Christ, the Holy Spirit
descended upon the Apostles, whom were all in that
upper room. There they received the courage to face
the world as apostles of Christ.
The Mass has ended, go forth in peace. This is
one of the most important sayings in the Mass. This
action, given by Christ through the Church, sends us
the faithful to proclaim the Gospel to others with our
lives. This call by Christ himself orders us to come
out of our comfort zone. Therefore, we are now more
properly formed and ready to take on the world like
the apostles. The apostles at Pentecost never went
back to their complacency in that upper room, rather
they went out and proclaimed the Life, Passion, Death,
Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus. The Apostles
went out, strengthened by the Holy Spirit, to speak of
these deeds to a world that did not want to hear
anything related to Jesus. The same holds true today.
The question we all must answer, are we going to be
like the apostles before Pentecost? Or are we going to
be like the apostles after Pentecost?

Hoy es Pentecosts. Estamos cincuenta das

despus de la Resurreccin de Cristo y oficialmente
concluimos el tiempo de Pascua. Estaremos moviendo
la imagen del Cristo de la Resurreccin a su posicin
original durante esta semana, como signo de que ha
concluido la Pascua.
Hoy los apstoles se encuentran en el mismo
cuarto donde tuvieron la Ultima Cena. Una pregunta
entonces, porque estaban ah? Para responder esta
interrogante podemos ver las reacciones naturales de
nosotros mismos. La habitacin era un lugar seguro
para los apstoles, esta situacin nos enva un mensaje
personal, porque siempre buscamos un lugar seguro
cuando algo malo nos pasa. Cuando nos sentimos
vulnerables buscamos ese lugar seguro. Sin embargo,
la vida cristiana requiere ms que esto, necesita
participacin, necesita miembros activos para
mantener la Iglesia viva.
Cristo enseo a sus apstoles como dejar ese lugar
seguro. Pero, ellos no captaron. Cristo muri y
resucit, sin embargo ellos regresaron a ese cuarto.
Jesucristo Ascendi al cielo y los apstoles regresaron
a esa misma habitacin. Diez das despus de la
Ascensin de Cristo, el Espritu Santo descendi sobre
los apsteles, quienes se encontraban en ese mismo
cuarto. Recibieron la fortaleza de dar la cara al mundo
como apstoles de Cristo.
La ltima frase de la misa es, La Misa ha
terminado, pueden ir en paz. Esto es una de las frases
ms importantes de la Misa. La accin dada por
Cristo, por medio de la Iglesia, nos manda a proclamar
el Evangelio con nuestras vidas. Este llamado de
Cristo, nos ordena a nosotros salir de nuestro lugar
seguro, entonces, nosotros al salir de la misa estamos
preparados y listos para dar la cara al mundo a
ejemplo de los apstoles. Ellos en el da de
Pentecosts no regresaron a su normalidad, sino,
ellos por fin estaban haciendo lo que Jess les haba
enseado. Los apstoles salieron fortalecidos por el
Espritu Santo para hablar de la Vida, Pasin, Muerte,
Resurreccin y Ascensin de Jess. Ahora nosotros
tenemos la misma responsabilidad. La pregunta ahora
es, Estaremos como los apstoles antes de
Pentecosts? O, Estaremos como ellos despus de
Pentecosts?

THE FULLNESS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The church wakes up to an amazing message this
morning. Look around and see who has been called.
Listen to the voices of those who proclaim Jesus is
Lord. Youll find no race of people left out; youll
find no language on earth unfit to proclaim the glory
of God. We call Pentecost Sunday the birthday of the
church. In many ways, the church is still being born.
Only when we all know the peace Jesus offered in
todays Gospel will we really know the fullness of the
Holy Spirit.
St. Paul assures us in todays second reading that
all of us have been given to drink of the one
Spirit. When we look around us in the church we
should see everyone. But we dont. Not yet. What is
holding us back from fully embracing the one Body of
Christ? When will we see our differences as
manifestations of the same Holy Spirit?

LA PLENITUD DEL ESPRITU SANTO

La Iglesia se despierta esta maana con un
asombroso mensaje. Mira a tu alrededor a ver quin
ha sido llamado. Escucha las voces de los que
proclaman que Jess es el Seor. Encontrars que
ningn pueblo ni raza ha sido excluido; ningn idioma
del mundo es incapaz de proclamar la gloria de Dios.
Decimos que el Domingo de Pentecosts es el
cumpleaos de la Iglesia. En diversas maneras, la
Iglesia todava est naciendo. Slo cuando todos
conozcan la paz que Jess ofrece en el Evangelio de
hoy es que de veras conoceremos la plenitud del
Espritu Santo.
San Pablo nos asegura en la segunda lectura de
hoy que a todos se nos ha dado a beber del mismo
Espritu. Cuando pasamos nuestra mirada por la
Iglesia, deberamos de ver a todos. Pero no es as.
Todava no, qu barrera nos impide abrazarnos en un
solo Cuerpo de Cristo? Cundo vamos a reconocer
que nuestras diferencias son manifestaciones de un
mismo Espritu Santo?
