JUSTIFICATION OF SAMPLING , SAMPLING

ERROR & SCALING:

WHY RANDOM SAMPLING ?
For this research study we have taken the
Startified Random sampling technique
under complex random sampling &
subdivided the total population into
different departments. Here we have 33
departments & number of students is also
different from one department to another.
Every time in the population has an
equal chance of inclusion in the sample &
each one of the possible samples has the
same probability of being selected like
lottery selection, selecting from sequential
list etc.
Simple random sampling technique is made
the maximum use of , & it is considered the
best method of sample selection.
Under this method no units is selected on
account of likes & dislikes of the
investigators & the selection is left to
chance.
This provides fair & equal chance for
selection.
STRATIFIED SAMPLING:

In this sampling data in a domain is split

into various classes on the basis of their
features & items are selected from those
classes. Stratified is made on the basis of
the special attributes & items are selected
on the random basis.
Here we have not selected multistage
sampling because sample selected is a part
of each & every bigger unit. As it is a multi
stage , chances of error is more. We cant
go for cluster sampling also because it
involves the grouping of population & then
selecting the groups rather than individual
elements for inclusion for sample. This
technique has a multi stages so chances of
error is more.
Area sampling cant be selected as we
dont have area information & it is a time
consuming process.
CHANCES OF SAMPLING ERROR:
1.
Biased sampling might occurs
because we have seen some students
dont find interest to answer when they
dont find the correct options or due to
lack of time , they dont respond on
time.

2.
Misleading sample : As we have
selected 282 students out of 1048. It
covers less than 50% students so result
cant be accurately measurable.
3.
He /she may not find answered due
difficulty level of questions.
SCALING:
Here we have selected LIKERT type scales
for scaling. Likert type scales are
developed by utilising the items- analysis
approach where in a particular item is
evaluated on the basis of how well it
discriminates between those person
whose total score is high & those whose
total score is low.
It consists of a number of statements
which express either a favourable or
unfavourable attitude towards the given
object to which the respondents is ask to
react.
The respondent indicates his agreement
or disagreement with each statement in
the instrument. Each response of the
respondent is given a numeric score
indicating its favourableness or
unfavourableness & then the scores are

total to measured the respondents

attitudes.
