Executive Summary

With the new health care reform, everyone is obtaining insurance; however physicians
still want patients help their own health by exercising. When it comes to a military city this is
seen more and more. Guthrie and Conner Troop Medical centers located on Fort Drum are
geared towards military and military affiliated. While Watertown NY, has very little medical
clinics, in fact they have more urgent cares then adult physician clinics. Amongst a randomly
generated survey of 50 people it proves quality of care has dwindled since 2010 and more so out
in town when a patient tries to help their self and they are not affiliated with the military were
received just as low quality if not lower of care.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Business Problem Review
The biggest issue with the new healthcare reform is the fact that the quality of healthcare has
dwindled since the start back in 2010, as this is also when the number of obesity cases went up.
However, I have also heard that when people were helping their own health by exercising they
were receiving better quality care, along with those patients who were still in their prime ages of
18-35.

Analytical Plan
After identifying my stakeholders, which was fairly easy to pinpoint the stakeholders for this
project while standing in line and ringing out customers in a regression city (Watertown NY).
With permission from my store manager I asked random customers and record their answers to
my questions. Amazing enough must customers were more than willing to participate and voice
their opinions. The first analysis technique was to go to a social network site for a Medical center
were patients openly post to the wall both pros and cons. I was even tempted to just go straight to
the stakeholders (physicians and nurses) for interviews. After all the considerations it was best to
do a survey on the very patrons that keep the medical field in business to compile my data
needed. The questions that I presented were;

Description of Survey & Rational behind the Questions

Question 1:
What is your age? I wanted to make sure I had a wide range of ages to poll from so I chose 1875+.

Question 2:
Asked for gender to see if gender might change my answers.
Question 3:
Does the amount of exercise effect if a physician gives quality care?

receive better care because they are helping their self?

Questions 5 and 6:
The ease of making appointment and instruction for follow up care.

Question 7:
How satisfied or dissatisfied by the amount of time the provider spent addressing patient needs?

Question 8:
How well the provider listened to the patient?

Question 9:

The results are in

97% of surveys were fully completed; roughly 3% were incomplete on overall satisfaction from
last provider, and the amount or type of exercise they got. The majority of the patients were
neutral on their overall health care quality. Of those, on a scale of very dissatisfied, dissatisfied,
neutral, satisfied and very satisfied, the average rating for overall satisfaction was about 3.07
(number was automatically figured from surveymonkey.com). Meaning most patients were not
that satisfied by their quality of healthcare. However, at the same time respondents indicated that
they were somewhat satisfied by the amount of time their provider spent with them in addressing
their needs. Sixty two percent of respondents admitted to exercising just about the right amount
too much too little, which corresponded to how easily it was to get into their provider; but had
felt their provider gave poor quality care.

Conclusion
The whole purpose of this was to see how much quality of care has gone down since the medical
reform came about. I was impressed with the data I collected. The patients who did not exercise
much managed to have better quality health care than those who actually exercised over the
recommended amount. However, overall results, majority of the respondents were not that
satisfied by the quality of health care they received. As well it did not matter where a patient was
seen at since all care was treated about the same. Overall, it seems that patients who do nothing
to improve their health have an easier time getting into their provider and have better quality
care. Yet when a person was going beyond the recommended amount of exercise they have a
harder time getting seen and when they are seen they have worse health care quality.
