Southern Arts Society (SASI) offers a


variety of classes and workshops for all
skill levels. For more information please
visit us in person, or check our website at
www.southernartssociety.org. There you
will find the class description and a list of
supplies required for the student to bring.
If any materials are provided by the
teacher, that will be listed as well.

Class Outline: Susie will teach


beginning basket techniques starting a coil, wrapping the cord,
basic stitches and finishing.

Students should wear appropriate


clothing for art classes, or bring an
apron or smock to wear. Some paints
and materials stain and cannot be
removed from clothing. Please bring your
own snacks or lunch, unless noted
otherwise. Canned drinks and water are
available at SASI for .50 cents.

2. Knitting Yarn (medium weight #4 or


#5) solid or variegated for wrapping

You must register and pay in advance


to reserve your seat in the class. SASI
accepts cash, check and credit cards.
Class size and seating are limited. Classes
that do not register the minimum number
of students may be canceled. If the class
is canceled by the instructor all payments
will be refunded.

1. At least 20 ft. of heavy (thick) Cotton
Cord (clothesline). You can find this at
Bridges Hardware in KM, Big Lots, or
other hardware stores)

JUNE PROGRAM - FREE


Tuesday June 7 at 7 pm
SASI artist Jan Wellborn will show us
how to weave watercolors as a new
way to create art from old or new
watercolor paintings. Bring your old
watercolor paintings or paint a new
one that night just for this project.
Doors open at 6:30. Bring a friend!

JUNE CLASS

Pastel Techniques, Tips and Tricks


Saturday June 11, 10 am to 3 pm
Instructor: Malia Bryngelson.
Cost: SASI Member
$50 per person,
Non-member $55

a variety of ways to layer colors in
pastel paintings.

Materials List for Student to bring:


1. Bring a set of NuPastels or other brand
of harder pastel sticks
2. Optional: assortment of soft pastels.
3. Bring a table easel and a drawing
board or piece of foam core, and an old
paint brush.
Malia will provide surfaces and pastel
paper. Students can email Malia for
more supply suggestions if they would
like to.
