SUBJECT

STATEMENT OF AFFIRMATION AND COMMITMENT

Dear All
We greet you all in the name of the One who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life - Jesus
Christ. This letter is intended to reassure the whole constituency of the commitment that
this Administration has to the fundamental importance of church leadership which
exhibits integrity, honesty, reasonable transparency, and governance that is without fear,
favour, or prejudice.
In the words of Article II of the Constitution of KwaZulu-Natal Free State Conference of
Seventh-day Adventists, the purpose of this Conference is to facilitate the proclamation of
the everlasting gospel in the context of the three angels messages of Revelation 14:6-12 to all peoples
within its territory. As the leaders of this local conference who are working toward this
end, we devote ourselves to illustrating the Lordship of Jesus in our lives by moral, ethical,
and social behaviours that are consistent with the teachings and example of Jesus1.
This Administration herein affirms its commitment to:
1. HONESTY we will deal truthfully with all matters that come our way, without
deviousness, fraudulence, or deceit;
2. INTEGRITY we will do our best to maintain the integrity of the Seventh-day
Adventist church within our Conference territory, especially within the
Conference leadership and the ministry in general; and
3. REASONABLE TRANSPARENCY we will not unreasonably withhold
information to the constituency in the form of progressive updates on matters
that affect Gods mission and our image within this Conference territory.
In the light of the recent and ongoing media reports concerning allegations of academic
fraud within our Seventh-day Adventist Church leadership, we wish to further reassure
you that measures are in place in order to ensure that no worker within this Conference
holds any fraudulent or invalid qualification which could contribute towards the
tarnishing of the image of this Conference and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in
general.
All the recorded and claimed academic qualifications of all workers, as per recently
developed church policy, will be taken through a process of verification, and any
questionable case will be dealt with accordingly, without fear, favour, or prejudice.

In the spirit of the recent GC statement and invite, we would encourage all leaders and
members of this Conference to continue praying for the whole Seventh-day Adventist
Church leadership, particularly within the southern African region, but especially the
leadership of this local conference.
As Jesus is soon to come, let us work with greater fervency than before, not allowing the
devil to distract us from, or detract from us, our mission which bears a divine signature.
