The history of
St. Patricks Day

Saint Patrick is the patron
saint of Ireland. He was born in
Roman England in 387 AD and
was the son of a Christian Deacon.
At the age of 16 he was sold into
slavery by a group of Irish raiders
who attacked his village. During
his captivity in Ireland he reported
to have heard God speaking to
him in his dreams. It is believed
that this is where he first had his
epiphany of converting the Irish to
Christianity. After 6 years St. Patrick
escaped home to his family. Later,
he travelled to a French monastery
where he studied for twelve years,
before returning to Ireland to
complete his mission.
He travelled throughout Ireland,
establishing monasteries, churches
and schools to Christianize the
country. He carried out his mission
in Ireland for thirty years and died
on March 17 in AD 461. Since then,
that day has been commemorated
as Saint Patricks Day
A shamrock was used by Patrick to
explain the Mystery of the Blessed
Trinity to the Ancient High Kings of
Ireland.

You have to follow 3 steps
to pour a perfect pint of Guinness:
POUR, SETTLE and TOP IT OFF

Tienes que seguir 3 pasos para tirar una

perfecta pinta de Guinness: VERTER,
REPOSAR y LLENAR HASTA EL BORDE

1) Pour the beer at a 45 degree angle.

The angle is important for the final
appearance and presentation. You
can put the spout inside the glass,
but as the beer starts to flow, dont
allow it to touch the spout. Pour it up
to about full.

1) Vierte la cerveza con un ngulo de 45

grados. El ngulo es importante para
la apariencia final y la presentacin.
Puedes poner el cao dentro del vaso,
pero cuando la cerveza empiece a caer,
no permitas que toque el grifo. Virtela
hasta llenar unas partes del vaso.

2) Then leave it settle for about two

minutes

2) Despus djala reposar durante

unos dos minutos.

3) Once the beer has come to rest, the

third step is the most important one
to present the pint. You have to top
it up drawing a shamrock by moving
the glass in the shape of the leaf as
the beer poured. Youll see how the
trickle of beer that comes from the
spout draws the Shamrocks leaves
on the top of the froth. Try to do it
and, as its said in Ireland fill the pint
until the head is proud of the glass

3) Una vez que la cerveza ha reposado,

el tercer paso es el ms importante
para presentar la pinta. Tienes
que rellenarla dibujando un trbol
moviendo el vaso con la forma de la
hoja segn va cayendo la cerveza.
Vers cmo el chorro de cerveza
que viene del grifo dibuja las hojas
del trbol en la parte de arriba de la
espuma. Prueba a hacerlo y, como se
dice en Irlanda, rellena la pinta hasta
que la espuma est orgullosa del vaso

A leprechaun is a small, old, Irish

fairy. Leprechaun is an old
Irish word meaning
little body.
The legend says
that leprechauns
are unfriendly,
they live alone
making shoes and
they hide away all
their coins in a pot of
gold at the end of
a rainbow. When
the leprechaun
is working
making shoes,
he attracts
treasure
hunters with
the noise of
his hammer.
When the
leprechaun
is discovered,
he can be
mistreated to confess
where the pot of gold is hidden,
but the treasures hunter must
keep his eyes on the leprechaun
constantly, otherwise the
leprechaun will vanish and the
pot will never be found.

Un leprechaun es es un
pequeo y viejo duende
irlands. leprechaun
una palabra antigua
irlandesa que
significa cuerpo
pequeo.
La leyenda dice
que los leprechauns
son antipticos,
viven solos haciendo
zapatos y esconden
odas sus monedas
en una olla de oro
al final de un
arcoris. Cuando
el leprechaun
est trabajando
fabricando
zapatos,
atrae a los
buscadores
de tesoros
con el ruido
de su martillo.
Cuando el
leprechaun
es descubierto, puede ser
maltratado para que confiese
dnde est escondida la olla de
oro, pero el buscador de tesoros
debe mantener los ojos en el
leprechaun constantemente; si
no, el leprechaun desaparecer y
la olla nunca ser encontrada.

Celebrating with Beer

Celebrando con Cerveza

We would like to tell you a
story explaining why Saint Patricks
Day is celebrated drinking beer...
but were afraid thats not going
to be possible. Saint Patrick has
nothing to do with Irish beer.
Actually, its in no way related to
beer. In fact, he wasnt even Irish
and his name was not Patrick...
Nevermind, on the seventeenth of
March, beer is as significant as Saint
Patrick himself so lets talk about
Irish beer instead.

The Top 10 Irish Beers

Hay dos familias principales de cervezas:
