10th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Allow me to share some notes on the responsibilities

of the pastor: The pastor (parochus) is the proper
pastor (pastor) of the parish entrusted to him, exercising
the pastoral care of the community committed to him
under the authority of the diocesan bishop in whose
ministry of Christ he has been called to share, so that for
that same community he carries out the functions of
teaching, sanctifying, and governing, also with the
cooperation of other presbyters or deacons and with the
assistance of lay members of the Christian faithful,
according to the norm of law. (Taken from the Code of
Canon Law 519.)
In our parish, the groups that offer assistance to the
pastor in his ministry are: Parish Pastoral Council,
Finance Council, Liturgy Committee, Social Services,
Parish and Spiritual Life, and School Board. This year,
we have been working on strengthening the presence
and representation of each group. In particular, the
Parish Pastoral Council has become strong and it is very
active in advising me in the different matters that pertain
to ministry in the parish. Our current members are:
Father Julio C. Jimenez (Parish Administrator), Father
Bernardo Lozano (Associate Pastor), Adolfo Benages
(Parish Operations Director), Dianne Raihle (Director of
Religious Education), Abbie Miller (School Principal),
Carol Zmijewski (Chair Person), Danielle Theobald,
Leo Melesio, German Santiago, Henrietta Janzen, Jose
Rodriguez (Secretary) Peter Zylkowzki, and Rajan
Fernando. These are men and women who are
committed to the wellbeing of the parish and the service
of the Church.
Part of the work the Council has done this year has
been the reevaluation of the Parish Mission statement,
and after deep reflection, prayer and discussion, it was
restructured as it is stated on the front page of the
bulletin. It is our belief that these words fully express
who we are at this time, and where we want to go in the
coming years.
It is worthwhile mentioning that it is the
responsibility of the Parish Pastoral Council to
constantly revisit and reevaluate the Parish Mission
Statement so that we make sure that every effort of
ministry is guided by this principle, and that we continue
to be faithful to what gives us life as a community of
faith. I thank every member of the Council for your
generous commitment.

sobre las responsabilidades del prroco: El prroco es el
pastor propio de la parroquia que se le confa, y ejerce la
cura pastoral de la comunidad que le est encomendada
bajo la autoridad del Obispo diocesano en cuyo
ministerio de Cristo ha sido llamado a participar, para
que en esa misma comunidad cumpla las funciones de
ensear, santificar y regir, con la cooperacin tambin
de otros presbteros o diconos, y con la ayuda de fieles
laicos, conforme a la norma del derecho. (Can. 519).
En nuestra parroquia, los grupos que ofrecen apoyo
al prroco son: Consejo Pastoral Parroquial, Consejo de
Finanzas, Comit de Liturgia, Servicios Sociales, Vida
Parroquia y Espiritual, y Consejo Escolar. Este ao,
hemos estado trabajando en fortalecer la presencia y
representacin de cada uno de estos grupos. En
particular, el Consejo Pastoral Parroquial ha crecido y es
muy activo en aconsejarme acerca de lo que tiene que
ver con la pastoral parroquial. Nuestros miembros
actuales son: Padre Julio C. Jimenez (Administrador
Parroquial), Padre Bernardo Lozano (Vicario), Adolfo
Benages (Director de Operaciones Parroquiales), Dianne
Raihle (Director de Educacin Religiosa), Abbie Miller
(Directora de la Escuela), Carol Zmijewski (Presidenta),

despus de profunda reflexin, oracin y discusin, se
ha reestructurado como esta en la pgina frontal del
boletn. Creemos que estas palabras expresan de manera
plena quienes somos en este momento y a dnde
queremos ir en los aos que vienen.
Cabe mencionar que es la responsabilidad del
Concejo Parroquial Pastoral revisar y reevaluar
constantemente la Misin Parroquial para as
asegurarnos de que cada esfuerzo de ministerio en la
parroquia es guiado por estos principios, y que
continuemos fieles a lo que nos da vida como
comunidad de fe. Agradezco a cada miembro del
Consejo por su compromiso generoso.
