BRIEF BACKGROUND

PT Krakatau Nippon Steel Sumikin ("PT KNSS") was established in December 26, 2012. The Company's
office is located in Cilegon, Banten and engaged in the business of the manufacture and sale of coldrolled steel and hot-dip galvanized steel products for automotive use in Indonesia. PT KNSS is the Joint
Venture Company between Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) from Japan and PT
Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk (PTKS) from Indonesia.
PT KNSS will build a Galvanizing, Annealing and Processing Line (GAPL) which is a manufacturing
line integrating the functions of both Continuous Annealing Line and Continuous Galvanizing Line.
GAPL is equivalent to the state-of-the-art equipment now in operation at NSSMCs steelworks in Japan,
and which is capable of producing high-grade, high-quality cold-rolled, hot-dip galvanized, and
galvannealed steel sheets, including steel sheets for automotive outer panels and high-strength steel.
PT KNSS is going to start its operation in the middle of 2017 with productive capacity of 480,000 metric
tons/year. Currently PT KNSS is in the construction stage.

PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk. (PTKS) Corporate Profile
First established as the Trikora Iron Steel Project by President Soekarno, PTKS which constructed at 1970
has grown to be the largest steel producer in Indonesia.
Currently, PTKS has a steel production capacity of 3.15 million tons per year (unaudited), producing
HRC, CRC and Wire Rods and through subsidiaries, the Company also manufactures steel products for
specialized industries and produces steel products such as Spiral Pipes, Electrical Resistance Welding
Pipes, Reinforcing Bars, and Section Steel. This rolling capacity will be increased to reach 4.65 million
tons by 2017 by adding HRC capacity by 1.5 million tons. The Company markets its products not just
domestically, but also internationally.
The Companys expertise to produce such specialized steel, including steel for the defense industry,

Both parent companies, NSSMC and PTKS, agreed to establish PT KNSS.
August 11th, 2014
Both parent companies agreed to execute a definitive agreement concerning PT KNSS.
August 25th, 2015
PT KNSS conducted it Cornerstone Laying Ceremony in its construction site.

CRS (COLD ROLLED STEEL)
Cold rolled steel ("CRS") is widely used as basic material in wide fields.
Our continuous annealing processing line is the combination of cleaning, annealing (heating and cooling),
tempering processes and inspection. The surface of raw material from cold rolling mill is cleaned
mechanically and chemically in the cleaning section. After cleaning, material is continuously heated and
cooled in the annealing furnace to create uniform crystals for appreciate mechanical properties. The
material becomes CRS product through additional process such as tempering, trimming and inspection.
GI (HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL)
Hot-dip galvanized steel ("GI") is a zinc coated steel. Hot rolled or cold rolled steel coils with appropriate
properties are used as the base metal of GI. After cleaning the surface and annealing for adjustment of
mechanical properties, basic metals are passing through molten zinc bath to provide zinc coating. GI has
excellent corrosion resistance because of zinc's sacrificial protection effect.
GI is widely used in various fields including automobiles.
GA (HOT-DIP GALVANEALLED STEEL)
Hot-dip galvannealed steel ("GA") is zinc coated steel with zinc-iron alloy layer. Hot rolled or cold rolled
steel coils with appropriate properties are used as the base metal of GA. After cleaning the surface and
annealing for adjustment of mechanical properties, basic metal is passing through molten zinc bath to

provide zinc coating. After the zinc bath, alloying process is applied to steel to make zinc-iron alloy layer.
Additional surface treatment may be applied to GA according to customers' requirement.
GA has excellent characteristics such as corrosion resistance, formability, weldability and paint adhesion.
GA is mainly used in automobiles.
