Statement of Purpose

The purpose of portfolio is aims to give them more understanding to the

students they are handling

We are assigned to have our Field Study, and because of those

observations we get some ideas from the class that we had observed. I
want others to know how difficult the job of the elementary teacher. Being
a teacher is not easy, other says that the teachers are just a repeater.
Thats why when Im inside the room, observing how the teacher managed
her pupils, on how she holds her patients towards her pupils I feel so proud
to my critic teacher because she is eager to impart the learning that she
have. And because of those experiences, our minds are already enlightened
on what kind of profession we are soon to face.
So, now we already understood our profession, and now were ready to face
another chapter of our life. And I hope that others will also know the value
of teachers, on how big is their sacrifice towards us, students.

Therefore, the teachers

must prepare a drill

can speak.

My Reflections
1. While you were observing the learners, did you recall your own experiences when
you were in their age?

Yes, I did recall. When I saw them raced in writing, shouted at a person when
they get in the way, changed seats whenever they got finish writing and chat
with one another, and also got afraid of the teacher who always counting 1-10
and list the noisy people in the blackboard and got minus points in recitation. I
remember I am also like that when I am in that same age.

2. Think of a teacher you cannot forget for positive and negative reasons. How did
she/he help or not help you with your needs (physical, emotional, social, cognitive)?

My Teacher when I am still First Year Highschool. Shes Mam Marifel Acierto I
will never forget her for she teaches me a lot of things she never failed to make
me fine when Im still in highschool. Whenever I have a problem I can easily
approach her. She treat me like her daughter. She make me realize that being a
teacher you must be open-minded, you must be a curious-not judgmental teacher
and even I cant see her now I always include her in my prayers.

3. Which is your favorite theory of development? How can this guide you as a future
teacher?
Kohlbergs stages of moral development, It guides me to know the tactics or
strategies on how to handle ones child conscience. It helps me to know them
better more.

CONCLUSIONS

Therefore, as a future teacher you should not be so strict in handling your pupils.
You should know how to be flexible in everything so there would no problem in you
and with your pupils.

EPISODE 4
INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND LEARNERS INTERACTION
(Focusing in Differences in gender, racial, religious backgrounds)

OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of the School Observed: Luzon Elementary School

School Address: Luzon, Cabatuan.
I observed grade 2 section 1. They are 32 all in all inside the classroom, 17 girls and 15 boys.
Their age range is 7-9 years old. Majority in the class are Ilocanos and Roman Catholic.
During Class:
There are a lot of interactions in their classroom. They have their own businesses with their own
group. They have a lot of stories in each everyone. They are carefree whenever they talk to their
friends. They are already good in communicating and expressing their own feelings in a good
manner. In interacting with the teacher they listen attentively and they will answer politely with
respect so students interact more with their friends rather than to their teachers.
As I observed the learners are mixed for example in the first row pupil A is noisy and pupil B is
the silent one. The teacher set the arrangement where the student who is noisy and naughty/
hard-headed where seated in front while those behave/ more knowledgeable pupils are placed at
the back.
Inside the classroom the pupils are like competitors. They are competing like in reciting, doing
group activities, doing an individual activities etc. but outside of the class they are more like
friends.
Outside Class:
In grouping they are more likely into same gender-boys for boys and girls for girls. They are
always talking about their wants, stories, experiences, movies and their own jokes.

MY ANALYSIS
1. Identify the persons who play key roles in the relationships and
interactions in the classrooms. What roles do they play? Is there
somebody who appears to be the leader, a mascot/joker, an attention
seeker, a little teacher, a doubter/pessimist?

Eliezes Reann Jake Garcia- the Joker in Grade 2-A. He is a funny

person. He always cracks joke. He can make the class laugh. He is
such a bright, active, and intelligent pupil. He is the top2 in the
class.
Raiysa Zarraga- The little teacher, every time their teacher is out
or has a visitor shes the one acting like a teacher. She can make
the class listen to her.
Joshua Ramos- The attention seeker, Ive notice this pupil in my
observation that he is lack of attention so he always do silly things,
he use to throw the book, notebooks, and bags of his classmates
for them to catch their attentions. Sometimes he will just scream,
dance, or sing in the middle of the class.

2. Are students coming from the minority group accepted or rejected by

the others? How is this shown?
They are fully accepted. They do not discriminate them but rather
they treat them as friends and classmates.
3. How does the teacher influence the class interaction considering the
individual differences of the students?
By being flexible and also knowledgeable in different cultures.
4. What factors influence the grouping of the learners outside the
classroom?
The Social Media and the
Environment

MY REFLECTIONS
1. How did you feel being in that classroom? Did you feel a sense
of oneness or unity among the learners and between the
teacher and the learners?

Whenever I observe the class, I can sense unity to them

because they are helping each other in cleaning, helping each
other in some activities, and they performed with unity. You
could say that they are competing each but not all the time.

2. How in the future, how would you want the learners in your
classroom to interact? How will you make this happen?
I want my student or pupils to be like sisters and
brothers. They should treat their classmate special. I will
not implement competition in the classroom that will
break the oneness/unity of my class. There could have
some competing activities but it should be a friendly
game. I will do some behavior strategies or make rules
for them to cooperate. I know they will follow because
its not hard to treat each other as sisters and brothers.

EPISODE5
INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES AND LEARNERS INTERACTION
(Focusing on different levels of abilities)

OBSERVATION REPORT

Name of the School Observed: Luzon Elementary School

School Address: Luzon Cabatuan.
I observed again the grade 2-A. I looked into the learners different abilities. They
are all performing well but still there is always a pupil or pupils that are exceling
more than the others because on my opinion even you are smart or intelligent if you
do not have enough learning materials like books, computer that may give you more
knowledge you may leave behind. In the class there are pupils who are rich and poor.
We know rich people can buy and can have whatever they want, and that is the
advantage of being rich and poor they can buy learning materials that they need so
my conclusion even we are smart or intelligent if you do not have enough learning
materials you will be leave behind.
On addressing the pupil by the teacher, teacher always give a good compliment to
the high achieving for them to get motivated more even the low achieving. We Know
Complimenting pupils are one of the best behavior strategies for motivating so
teacher always do this to the achiever who made a great job.

MY ANALYSIS
1. Did your observation match the information given by the teacher? Were you able to
correct identify who among the students performed well and who did not? What
behavior helped you identify them?

Yes, High achievers are always raising their hands whenever there is a recitation. Low
achievers are always silent and behave whenever there are recitation they are not
raising their hands.
2. Describe the differences in ability levels of the students in the class. I s
there a wide gap between the students who are performing well and those
who are not?

No gap between them, instead they help those who are low achiver. For
example this high achiever have nothing to do she/he can be a little
teacher to the low achiever.

3. Describe the methods used by the teacher in handling the students

differences in abilities. How did the students respond to the teacher?

The teacher treats her pupils equally. There is no low or high achiever in the
class whenever they are having a class discussion. She handles them equally.

MY REFLECTION
When I was in 2nd year high school my Math teacher always asks me secretly if I
know those who are low learners in the class so that she can arrange the group
according to our intelligences. Especially if we have group activities for example
Group A, must consists at least 2high achievers and 3 low achievers.
During our discussion or in a recitation high achievers always raise they hand to
answer the question but the teacher ignored them because she want to give
chance those who are low achiever for them to enhance the knowledge they have.
Yes, It was so effective. Those who are low learners excelled in some subjects
and they learning abilities increased.
