MUET Reading 800/3 July 2014 Suggested Answers

Hi.. my students took the exam so I have a copy of the reading paper.. again, I emphasise, these are just my
own answers and are up for discussion.\
1. C (no data on 'most')
2. A (2010-1 billion, 2015 - 2 billion)
3. A (It is not enough to concentrate on Gucci n Merc etc)
4. B (graph after 2010 shows a sharp increase)
5. B (spikes in near future - 2011, 2012)
6. B (affluent means rich, so the statement is false because they need to attract all levels of consumers inc.
the poor)
7. C (no mention of expenditure and how many percent spent on R&D)
8. B (not the 'only' form as they also use horses and 'chiva')
9. B (not the 'main' source majority of families run subsistence farms)
10. C (no info who rears cattle or if the villagers use for own consumption)
11. C (hospitable is more appropriate than generous, because it indicates that they are being good hosts)
12. B (yes, he was confident)
13. C (definitely have to be imported and locals don't grow them, no mention of difficult to transport)
14. A (hope because if something is done, the rest of the forest could be left to grow once again)
15. A (a single reef shark can contribute almost $2 million USD)
16. A (quantified the economic benefits of shark-diving)

Hi all... just re-emphasising again that these are my personal answers, I have no direct connection with
MPM and their answers so please use it for your reference only, they are NOT carved in stone! Just
appreciate my efforts and please no backchat or annoying speculations. hehe..

than that percentage./ B - is the suggested answer from another a reliable source.

ADDED ON 7/5/2014, AFTER THE RESULTS WERE ANNOUNCED:

In comparison to the results announced by MPM, my suggested answers contain 4 ERRORS. It is very
unclear which of the 4 answers are wrong. If even I can make 7 errors, consider how hard the level of MUET
reading paper is. The most I can advise you is to do more practices and have faith. Better luck next time!

November 2012 MUET Reading 800/3 sample answers
Heya peeps... proud to announce that this time round the MUET reading paper seems more straightforward
and less ambiguous. The bad news is that if it is too easy, they might have to adjust the results so that it
follows the proper bell curve hence getting a high band becomes more difficult.. haha but let's not worry our
lil heads abt this.

Ok guys... here's mine... but it is not conclusive. Based on feedback, I might change the answers. So get the
ball rolling and leave a comment k.. :P

3. C (step up advertising to be more visible, cheaper is not mentioned)

Here are my answers, I'm doing this as I save online, so you'll hv to be patient while I double check my own
answers.
1. B (25 topics in total)
2. C (No evidence of media type)
3. B (Can be disproved by mention of UK, Asia Pacific Region etc.)
4. A (refer to linegraph)
5. B (shifted away from pro n anti to more balanced style)
6. B (revised answer: confirmed vs believed)

1. B: 1995 - 2005 = ten year period, not 20
2. B: 2005, 1st is fishing 43.3 million, skateboarding 12.2 mil
3. A: - get this - ...! (use of expression and exclamation mark)
4. B: percentage growth of soccer 17.5, golf 2.9 does not indicate MORE THAN TWICE THE RATE
5. C: No mention of statistics for those 'watching' big sports
6. A: kayaking is an individual sport
7. B: writer DOES NOT prefer the current trend in sports participation, he's all for the cheering crowd
(meaning he likes to watch, not participate)

MUET MID YEAR 2010 READING 800/3 ANSWERS
Hi everyone,
I've gone through the mid year paper and these are my answers. MPM's answers may be slightly different as

even I admit that most of the questions are tricky. Anyway, this is just to help you guage your level. When
you get your result (x) do some calculation to predict what you may get for the final result. x times 120
divided by 45 then you can get your reading paper marks of x/120.
Eg. if u scored 20 x120 /45 = 53 points /120.
Then you have to pray you did well for the other papers..
