PROPOSED INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CLINICAL EMERGENCIES,DISASTER

AND RESEARCH PRIORITIES FOR HEALTH CARE WORKERS

M.O.S.C College of Nursing, Kolenchery is planning to organize an International


conference on clinical emergencies, disaster and research priorities for health care
workers. College of Nursing is a sister institution of M.O.S.C Medical College Hospital
which is a 1200 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital in Central Kerala imparting
high quality medical education for more than a decade.
M.O.S.C College of Nursing is a pioneer in nursing education in Kerala which began
its function in 2006 and has a Masters, Bachelors and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing
programmes. The college is led by Prof Dr Sheela Shenai and she is supported by an
efficient team of faculty in various specialties.
The college is planning this conference keeping in view the changing health
scenario, globally and nationally and Kerala is no exception. With its location at a
geographically important location and serving as a referral centre for many nearby
hospitals the health workers of M.O.S.C Medical College Hospital needs to be
prepared in handling complex variety of emergencies as well as equip themselves
to face anticipated disasters.
This conference will bring in international and national experts in the field of
Emergency Medicine, Disaster Management, Nursing and Allied Health. Resource
persons from the United Nations, Old Dominion University, Virginia, Kerala State
Emergency Management Authority, M.O.S.C Medical College and M.O.S.C College of
Nursing will impart hands on training along with their respective sessions. A
conference of this magnitude is the first of its kind being attempted by any nursing
college in private or government sector.

health related damages and bring down loss of human life
