Salemm e,Jr.had a hidden interestin The Channel.

Inoraboutandbetween 1991and 1995,theSalemmesbecnmethesubject


ofacriminalinvestigation,includingafederalgrandjuryinvestigation,bystateandfederallaw
enforcem entauthorities. ln connection with thisinvestigation,Salem m e,Jr.was indicted by a

federalgrandjuryonoraboutJune19,1992inUnitedStatesv.FrancisP.Salemme.Jr.,Crim.No.
92-10179-REK . The relationship ofthe Salem mesto The Chsnnelwasrelevantnotonly to the
aforem entioned crim inalinvestigation,butalso to pending courtproceedingsin Crim .No.
92-10179-REK.

On oraboutM ay 10,1993,Salem m e and Salem me,Jr.participated in the


m urderofStephen D isarro. Salem m earranged with thedefendantD ELUCA to dispose ofthe
body ata location in Providence,Rhode Island.
Shortly afterthe m urderofD isarro,Salem me transported Disarro'sbody
to Providence,R.I.where the defendantDELUCA arranged to have the body buried in thevicinity
of715Branch Avenue.

In oraboutFebruary 2011,thedefendantDELUCA wasarrested in the

DistrictofRhode lsland. Thereafter,the defendantD ELUCA agreed to cooperate with federal


law enforcem entauthorities in an effortto obtain a lightersentence.

During an interview ofthe detkndantDELUCA on oraboutJune 23,2011


in the DistrictofM assachusettsby federalprosecutorsand investigators,DELU CA denied any
knowledgeregarding the disappearance and suspected murderofStephen Disarro. Atthattim e,

theddkndantDELUCA falstlystattdthat:(1)hehadnoinformationrtgardingthtdisappearance
ofStephenDisarro;and(2)hewasnotinvolvedinthedisappearanceofStephenDisarro. During
thatinterview aswellasduring an earlierinterview in the DistrictofM assachusetts on orabout
M arch 28,2011,the defendantD ELUCA also denied any knowledge ofany otherm urders
com m itted by m em bersand associatesofthe NELCN .
On oraboutJuly 11,2011,thedefendantDELU CA entered into aplea

agreementwith theUnited Statesin whichheagreed toplead guiltyto a singlecountinformation


charging DELU CA with racketeering conspiracypursuantto Title 18,United StatesCode,Section

1962(d). ThepleaagreementalsorequiredDELUCA toprovidecompleteandtruthful


infolnnation to theU nited Statesand stated thatiftheUnited Statesdeterm ined thathe cooperated
fully and had provided substantialassistance to law enforcem entauthorities,theUnited States
would file am otion thatwould perm itthe Courtto impose a lowersentence.
