6. Mount Fort
Monte Forte (Fortaleza do Monte), Macau, China
Click the above link to read our review of Forte Monte.
This is Macau's formidable attraction, which is best visited along with the Macau Museum housed within
its walls.
The Mount Fort is located right next to the Ruins of St. Paul in Section C if using the World Heritage
Guide provided above.
The Mandarin House is a residential compound originally owned by reformist and literary figure Zheng
Guanying in the late 19th century. The property was included in the 2005 UNESCO World Heritage for
the Historic City Centre of Macau. However, it was not opened to the public in 2010 after several years
of restoration. It is similar but on a much larger scale to the Lou Kau Mansion found on Senado Square
(Section C).
The Mandarin's House is found on Section F of the World Heritage Guide provide above.
36. Tai Lei Loi Kei (Famous for Pork Chop Buns)
Tai Lei Loi Kei, Macau, China
Click the link above to read our review for Tai Lei Loi Kei, the famous maker of Pork Chop buns in
Macau.
Tai Lei Loi Kei now has three branches in Macau. The original is in the old Taipa village and the two new
branches can be found in the Venetian Canal Shoppes area and the recently opened branch on the
street leading away from the bottom steps of the Ruins of St. Paul in the Historic City Center.
Located just next to A-Ma Temple, this is a place well worth making reservations for and making sure
you arrive promptly to avoid having your table given away.
Click the above link to read our review for Macau Soul, a little known jazz bar just off the Ruins of St.
Paul.
This is a gem of a find, owners David and Jacky offer a wide selection of Portuguese wines and various
hors d'oeuvre.
Catch them on the right night and Macau Soul might have jazz or swing museum on offer. Call in
advance for reservations or take a chance.
Unfortunately many visitors only have a limited time in Macau and can only make a day trip or stay one
night. This review is particularly useful for this group of visitors.
Here we offer much of the same information found on this trip list but include ferry transportation
information.
