Being regular visitors to Macau, we decided to create a trip list with what we believe to be the most important and

interesting of the many attractions available to those interested in spending time in Macau. We hope this will
prove useful to those researching and planning their visit to Macau, especially those with limited available time in
the city.
Please bare in mind that this is a personal list that will not be consistent with everyone else. It simply reflects
what we have enjoyed most about Macau in recent years.
Inclusions are arranged by their proximity to other nearby attractions and places we have enjoyed and feel are
worthy of mention. They are not listed in a favourite-to-least favourite or chronological order.

3. Senado Square (Where most visits to the Historic Centre begin)

5. Ruins of St. Paul's Cathedral (the Face of Macau Tourism)

The Ruins of St. Paul is the most easily recognisable attraction in Macau and represents the face of

6. Mount Fort

This is Macau's formidable attraction, which is best visited along with the Macau Museum housed within
its walls.
The Mount Fort is located right next to the Ruins of St. Paul in Section C if using the World Heritage

7. Macau Museum (Macau's most comprehensive museum)

Located in the Forte Monte, the Macau Museum is the best museum option for those interested in
Macau's history. It is also the most conveniently located, being in the heart of the city center (Section C)
near many of the World Heritage Attractions.

8. A-Ma Temple (Best temple visit in Macau)

A-Ma Temple is one of the most important attractions in Macau and is the oldest member of the
UNESCO World Heritage collection. It is also believed that A-Ma Temple is the reference to the
Portuguese naming of the island of Macau.

9. Leal Senado Building

10. Casa de Lou Kau

This is the second most interesting attraction in the Senado Square area (Section D) and perhaps the
best hidden gem in this area of Macau.

11. St. Augustine's Square

few minutes walk Southwest of Senado Square

12. St. Lawrence's Church

This is our single favorite church to visit in Macau and one of the very best inclusions in the Historic
Centre of Macau.

13. Mandarin's House (Wonderfully restored Chinese Residential Compound)

The Mandarin House is a residential compound originally owned by reformist and literary figure Zheng
Guanying in the late 19th century. The property was included in the 2005 UNESCO World Heritage for
the Historic City Centre of Macau. However, it was not opened to the public in 2010 after several years
of restoration. It is similar but on a much larger scale to the Lou Kau Mansion found on Senado Square
(Section C).

14. Macau Science Centre (Macau's most family friendly attraction)

In our opinion, this is the best overall museum experience in Macau as well as the most child-friendly
attraction in the city. The Macau Science Museum, which recently celebrated the 3rd anniversary of its
opening is an excellent place to spend a two to three hours and will easily entertain both children and
adults alike.

15. Grand Prix Museum

Located on Lotus Square, this is probably Macau's best speciality museums and is conveniently located
right next to another interesting museum called the Wine Museum, making a great way to spend an
hour or two when visiting Macau.
There is no better time to visit than during annual Macau Grand Prix but this museum is always fun if
you want to see some beautiful (and fast) race cars.

Open 10am to 9pm, closed on Tuesdays

16. Wine Museum

This is a good museum, conveniently located right next to the Grand Prix Museum. Combined they
make an excellent way to spend a couple of hours and you can even do a bit of wine tasting at the end
of your visit.
Cost: Free Entry but wine tasting is (MOP15 per person)
Opening Hours: 10am to 9pm, closed on Tuesdays.

17. Lou Lim Ieoc Garden (Macau's most beautiful garden)

place we much enjoy spending a bit of time in Macau.

19. Rua da Felicidade

While not a World Heritage inclusion, this historic street is a genuinely interesting stop to make, not far
from Senado Square
All the buildings on this street are famously painted up in red so have your camera ready when making
a stop at Rua da Falicidade.

30. Coloane Village

This is a small village in the southern part of Cotai Island, where you can find the famous Lord Stow's
Bakery, a few small temples and other attractions. This is the laid back, old Macau that you won't see in
the more touristy areas.

and heavy crowds in these branches, it would seem that everyone feels the same way. The egg tarts
are good, the Almond cookies are very good and the braised meats are just excellent at Koi Kei Bakery
shops.

Tai Lei Loi Kei now has three branches in Macau. The original is in the old Taipa village and the two new

Located along Avenida da Republica, next to Sai Van Lake, this is a great choice for those wanting to try

51. How to Make a Day Trip to Macau

In the past a day trip to Macau was a good enough way to see this destination near Hong Kong.
However, with the 2005 designation of 30 World Heritage attractions, the introduction of around 20
museums and additional new attractions added alongside the wave of new hotel and casino resorts,
Macau has quickly become a destination worth 3-4 days of your time.

Unfortunately many visitors only have a limited time in Macau and can only make a day trip or stay one
night. This review is particularly useful for this group of visitors.
