Praying for Vocations

Praying for vocations is so important
in todays world. A vocation is a
gift. Our prayers give those being
called to the priesthood or religious
life the courage and strength to say
yes!
The harvest is abundant but the
laborers are few; so ask the master
of the harvest to send out laborers
for his harvest. (Luke 10:2)
Please come and pray for vocations
the 1st Wednesday of the month,
July 6, 2016 8 am to 7pm in the
Chapel Benediction and Exposition
of the \Blessed Sacrament begins @
6pm. There is reading material for
prayer in the Chapel. Please stop by
and ask God to help someone who is
discerning, His call is all that is
needed.

Over the past two weekends you may have heard me mention at
Mass about the chaotic situation my home country, Venezuela, is
living. The Communist government of Maduro, the President, is
not only wanting to impoverish the country (food and medicine is
scarce everywhere) but is also trying to stop the Opposition from
acting on its constitutional right to call for a Referendum of the
President himself.
I trust my people of Venezuela will continue to fight till the end
but in the meantime Christ compels me to come to the aid of
those deprived there of their basic goods for their sustenance; as
you can imagine, my own family is at risk as well. For this purpose,
a second collection to purchase medicines and medical supplies
will be taken on the weekend of July 10 here at SJN. Any
donations in kind such as baby formulas, canned goods, etc. are
also welcome. You may bring them to the office during working
hours or before any of the Masses on the July 10 weekend. Checks
can be made payable to St. John Neumann.
I have made the necessary contacts to ensure that our
merchandise will arrive there safely. It is not easy because even
the government, in front of the UN and OAS has denied the need
to receive any aid for Venezuela and sometimes confiscates
charitable shipments. In the meantime it is the people who suffer
the consequences of this diabolic action. I realize many other
nations in the world are going through similar circumstances,
Syria, Ecuador and Mexico being some of them. My heart and
prayers go out to them.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and generosity. May the
Lord always provide for all the needs of your family and bless our
efforts to reach out to those in need.
Peace!

PMO at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio

Last Thursday, June 23, we had the
opportunity to visit some children
at the Children's Hospital of San
Antonio. We presented the story of
"The three little pigs" to bring
some joy and laughter to the kids.
They enjoyed the performance and
especially one of them had fun
saying the wolf's lines: "little pig,
little pig, let me come in.
Afterwards, we had some arts and
crafts ready to share with them so
they could all keep the characters
and the little houses from the
story. It was a blessing to see the kids are cared for and loved by our
Lord, through the staff and all the people that contribute to make their
stay, a pleasant one. Please keep them in your prayers.

UPCOMING PMO at SJN

Wednesday July 13,
2016 we will be hosting
some residents of Senior
Care of Windcrest. We
have invited them to join
us at 10:00 am at the
library to show hospitality and friendship
just like we did with our neighbors from
Elmcroft. After mingling, we will then
invite them to go through the Holy Door
and join us for Mass. If you would like to
participate in this PMO please call the
main office.

WELCOME!
During June we welcomed nine children into Christs Church through water and the Holy Spirit. Just
as God gave these children the gift of life when they were born, Baptism gave them the gift of Faith
and Eternal Life. The Parents and Godparents represented the entire Church and served as the
instruments through which God gave each child faith. Let us, the parishioners of St. John
Neumann, celebrate these childrens Baptism and encourage the lifelong journey of faith this
sacrament initiates. Those baptized were:
Gael I. Cardenas
Jacob M. Cordero
Penelope F. Glover

Esmeralda C. Hernandez

Quetzali A. Hernandez-Caballero

Eduardo A. Hernandez-Rivera

Davie-Marie Schulze
Meilin A. Wong
