Broad Channel Reconstruction Project

New York City Department of Design & Construction (NYC-DDC)
organizes and coordinates construction activities to minimize
disruption to residents and businesses. However, the nature of
construction is such that some disruptions may occur. We are
committed to maintaining a work site that is safe and orderly. We
appreciate the patience and cooperation of everyone who may be
temporarily inconvenienced by our infrastructure improvement
project.

Property Damage
You are advised to inform the DDC or the contractor of any
property damage that you may have. If the contractor fails to
respond within 10 days, you should inform the DDC Borough
Director in writing. If you intend to file a claim, you must do so
within 90 days of the occurrence with the New York City
Comptrollers Office.

Work Completed
Spring 2016
70% of Storm and Sanitary Sewer on West 12th Road
75% of Sanitary Sewer on West 11th Road
Installation of new bulkheads completed on West 11 th,
12th and 13th Roads
Water main completed on West 11th and West 12th Roads
Water main 30% complete on West 13 th Road

Begin installation of concrete headers and retaining walls
on West 11th and West 12th Roads
Community Impact
The DDC is committed to maintaining a worksite that is safe
and clean. We realize that dust, noise, and heavy
equipment are intrusive but they are common elements of
construction. We ask for your patience during the project.
During construction hours you can expect the following:
Increased levels of noise
Some traffic lane changes, roadway closings, and delays
Signs, advisories, and temporary construction barriers
which will guide traffic and pedestrians to promote
safety
Machines and materials stored, but cordoned, along the
streets nearby or within the project limits.
Special Needs
Individuals with special needs who may be uniquely
impacted by this project should contact the projects
Community Construction Liaison as soon as possible to
make them aware of your situation. DDC will work with you
to attempt to minimize the inconvenience as much as
possible.
