INTRODUCTION
Toassistmembersincompletingtheirfinaldeclarations,VALIPAChascollaboratedwithpackaging
manufacturerstodrawupadocumentthatprovidesinformationontheweightsofthemostcommonlyused
itemsofindustrialpackaging.
Thisoverviewisdesignedtobeusedbypartiesresponsibleforpackagingwhoareunabletoobtaininformation
abouttheindustrialpackagingforwhichtheyareresponsible,forexamplebecauseaforeignsupplierfailsto
providethenecessarydata,becauseitresellstheproductswithoutseeingthepackagingorbecauseitistoo
difficulttoweighthepackaginginquestion.
Pleasenote,however,thatitisinallcasespreferabletousedatatakenfromactualmeasurementsratherthan
theinformationsuppliedhere.Theweightofagiventypeofpackagingcanvarysignificantlyduetothewayin
whichitismade,themanufacturer,etc.Whereawiderangeofweightshasbeenrecordedforonetypeof
packaging,thedatagivenisaweightedaveragetakingintoaccountthemarketsharesofthevariouspackaging
itemsordetailedvalueinformationbasedononeormoreexamples.
Thisdocumenthasbeendrawnupinconjunctionwithpackagingmanufacturersandusers.Itwillbeupdated
regularlytotakeintoaccountnewtypesofpackaging,changesintheweightofpackagingitems,etc.
Wehopethatpartiesresponsibleforpackagingwillfindthisinitiativeusefulincompletingtheirdeclarations
andprovidingtheinformationrequiredbyVALIPAC.

Thestrengthofapalletisdeterminedbythreefactors:

Thepalletweightshavebeencalculatedonthebasisthattheyareconstructedoflightwoodsuchaspineorpoplar
