List in order what you feel about the UN top three
accomplishments and the single biggest shortcoming/failure.
The United Nation or UN has existed for many years. It was
established after the devastating war in order to control
international relations. It offers peace and safety to the organization.
The United Nations and its family agencies are involved in many
areas of work that touches and cares for every aspect of peoples
lives around the world.
In my opinion, I think the three accomplishments UN have
made is having the child protection program, promoting womens
right, and providing food aid. It is very important for us to make sure
that every single child from any country will have a good living
condition and equal rights. A group called, UNICEF, has done a very
great job in saving childrens life from over 190 countries. UNICEF
provides emergency food and healthcare to children in other
countries that had been devastated by the World War II. I believe
that every life is very important and every single person, whether
they are young or old, should not be overlooked. Promoting
womens right is also very should not be ignored as well. As a
woman, I feel very happy that UN has been improving the lives of
women and empower women to have greater control over their
lives. They established UNIFEM INSTRAW and it helps improve the
quality of life for women for more than 100 countries. UN really
gives more opportunities for women, which really cause a great
impact in many womens life, especially in their jobs. There are
many countries from all around the world that lack of enough food
to provide every people in their country, but during 1961, the UN
have created the WFP or the World Food Program, which is the
worlds largest humanitarian aid organization addressing hunger
and promoting food security. They provide food to more than 90
million people each year and are still keeping on track. The UN has
done a very great job every year, but there are still some failure or
some goal that they werent able to succeed. I chose the event of
Rwanda Genocide as UN biggest failure because they failed to stop
the majority Hutus going on a murderous rampage. This event has
caused more than a million deaths and was also called a Holocaust.
