National foreword
The adoption of the ISO Standard as a Malaysian Standard was recommended by the
Working Group on PVC Pipes and Fittings under the authority of the Industry Standards
Committee on Plastics and Plastics Products.
This Malaysian Standard is a modified adoption of ISO 1452-1:2009, Plastics piping systems
for water supply and for buried and above-ground drainage and sewerage under pressure Unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) - Part 1: General, published by the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) with the following modifications:
a)
in the source text, "this International Standard" should read "this Malaysian Standard";
b)
the comma which is used as a decimal sign (if any), to read as a point;
c)
in the source text, "ISO 1452" has been replaced by "MS 628";
d)
e)
the following deviations have been incorporated in the source text and marked by
single vertical bar in the marginal:

Explanation: The replacement has been made to be in line with the scope of the standard.
4.1 General requirement for compounds
or formulations, third paragraph
Explanation: The addition has been made to ensure PVC resin is comply with MS 1012.
4.2 Special requirement for compounds
or formulations for components in contact
with drinking water
Explanation: The addition has been made to ensure the requirement for drinking water which
is intended for human consumption is comply with MS 1583: Part 1.
4.3 Use of reprocessable and
recyclable material
Explanation: This standard does not allow the use of reprocessable and recycled material.

MS 628 consists of the following parts, under the general title Plastics piping systems for water

The MS 628 series have been renumbered as above for consistency.
This Malaysian Standard cancels and replaces MS 628: Part 1:1999, Specification for
unplasticised PVC (uPVC) pipes for water supply: Part 1: Pipes (First revision).
Compliance with a Malaysian Standard does not of itself confer immunity from legal
obligations.
NOTE. MOD on the front cover indicates a modified standard i.e. a standard adapted from an
International Standard with permitted technical deviations, which are clearly identified and explained. The
changes in structure are permitted provided that the altered structure permits easy comparison of the
content of the two standards. Modified standards also include the changes permitted under identical
correspondence.
