3g copper (2) sulfate hydrate

Evaporating dish
Electronic balance
Tongs
Glass rod
Hot plate
Hot pad
Scoopula

Procedure:

Weigh and record mass of evaporating dish.

3g copper(II) sulfate hydrate placed on evaporating dish.
Place evaporating dish on hot plate on medium heat.
Use Glass Rod to stir the copper sulfate hydrate to make sure all copper
sulfate hydrate crystals are heated.
5. After its fully heated and loss of crystal color occurs, turn off the hot plate.
6. Safely take out the copper sulfate hydrate using the scoopula.
7. Record mass.
Quantitative observations:
Weight of Evaporating dish
Weight of copper sulfate hydrate after cooling
Difference between initial weight and current weight
Qualitative: Color, steam
