SKUH Na ASSEMBLY / OPERATORS < MANUAL FOR YOUR SAFETY AND TO GET THE BEST FROM YOUR MACHINE, USE ONLY GENUINE KUHN PARTS. GF 452-GYROTEDDER G | PLEASE READ CAREFULLY “(ay BEFORE USING THE MACHINE TRACTOR WORKING SPEED Many factors govern thn choice of the correct fonward operational speed + 1, The moisture content + this factor ist most Important the first time over 2, The density of the crop, 3. The length of the crop, Hore are a few examples of cortect speed given a crop of average length and density + = First time over + when the crop has a high moisture content the speed is approx 41/205 mapch, (7-8 km/H) = Second time over : the speed can reach 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 mapyhy (10 to (2 km/H) according to the moisture content, If the hay is dey, the speed of the rotor should be reduced, When the erep is very long, heavy and wet, the forward speed should be reduced. Under difficult conditions such as this it is generally advisable to lower the speed_ithe forward speed) and increase the P,T.O, speed, It is impossible to give accurate information on this and the speeds must be Gecided according to the crop belng treated, ‘TRANSPORT POSITION Mounted Model ( GF 452 P) Disengage the P,T. Release the outer wing lock (Fig. 5) and swing the outer wings to the rear until they Jock in the teansport position, Never engage the P.T.O, drive while the machine is folded in che transport position, Before reroving the machine fron the tractor the wheels should be Jocked with the pin (V) im position A (fig. 6). If the GF 452 P Gyrotedder requires to be moved when not attached to the tractor, slacken pin V t0 that the wheels tum freely in position A (attachment onto the trae~ tor when wheels are in position B is Impossible), Never unlock the centre caster wheels when the machine is not on the tractor, as this makes manoevreability impossible, To avoid difficulty when re-attaching the machine to the tractor all 4 wheels must be locked, ‘Tralled Model { GF 452 T ) Disengage the P.T.O. Before folding the unit the machine must be placed in a Ievel position by adjusting the screw handle (M) (Fig 8). Be Lock the inner wheels in their forvard position (6) (fig. 7) unlock the outer caster wheels by loosening lock (E) (fig-7). Release the outer wing lock and swing the outer wings to the rear until they lock in the transport position. Lock the outer caster wheels in the position (K) or (L) (f1g.7). In order to avoid the tines of the outer rotors fouling the tyres of ‘the inner support wheels, secure the outer rotors by locking one tine arm (5) by means of the lock (C} (Fig. 9). Never engage che PIO while the machine is folded in the transport position. NOTE : Do not forget to Lift the lock (L) (fig. 9) when in working position, A i transport, the GP 452 7 mist not be toved st more than 30 dan/be (18 mph). warontascr The two fixing brackets located on the underside of the dravbar hitch are to enable 2 safety chain to be attached from the tractor to the machine drawbar, this providing an auxilliary attachment system in accordance with ASAE standard $3381, LUBRICATION Grease the following with SHELL RETINAK A. Once a day + ‘PTO yoke bearings and drive tubes. whe 2 drive shafts (If) (£4g. 10). once a week “The 4 rotors and the 2 articulation hinges (R) (fig. 10). nee a year “the 4 rotor gearboxes, ‘The main gearbox is filled with SHELL ALVANTA 2. /2 pint). Tt would only be necessary to refill when the geerbox has been stripped for repairs. Lubricate the following points with SHELL X 100 + = Onge a day : the drive shafts (8) (fig. 10). = Ones a week + ‘The 2 locking mechanisms on both outer wings (¥) (fig. 10). the rollers (S) of the drive pins (fig. 10). “The screw handle (¥) (fig. 8) and the pivoting points on the GF 452% necommennations A). = Stop the engine of the tractor before working on the GF 45: = Take care the tines are fitted comectly ie, the tines are facing in the Gizection of rotation (R) of the rotors. = The correct working angle is obtained by adjusting the top link not by raising cof lowering the 3 point hitch on the mounted model and only by adjusting the screw handle on the trailed model, = On the mounted model always ensure that the tractor hydraulic linkage is In the flosting position, = Choose the speed of work carefully, = Frequently check the tightness on all unite of all nuts ang bolts, = Switch off the tractor engine when carrying out adjustments on the GF, = Never allow the safety clutch to slip more than a few seconds otherwise rapid wear taker place, = 10 - Note: to achleve as close a pass as possible on uneven ground, pivot the wheels 180° towards the front of the machine near to the tines (see Fig. 6,8) and lock the wheels with pin V. Do not forget to lft the machine on very tight tums and at the edges of Sess, The angle of the tines can be adjusted to sult the nature of the crop. The wheel stalks slide on their vertical axles and can be fixed in 2 different positions, ~ For heavy and medium density forage :tteep inclines (lower hole) = For light density forage : gentle inclines (upper hole) Tratled Model (GF 4527) The machine can be pt into 2 positions thus changing the angle of she rotors : = Normal position + handle F to the rear = Lower position +: handle F s9 the front. Lock the wheels in the position G (Fig 7). For working in the oblique position on the edges of fields, along hedgerows, lock the wheels in the potition (H) for a projection to the left or (J) for a projection co the right. (Fig 7). Adjust the angle of the rotors with the screw handle until the tips of the tines just clear the ground, FITTING TO THE TRACTOR Mouated Model ( GF 452 P ) Tho GF 452 P is suitable for all wactors with a thee point linkage system, It should bbe mounted and adjusted only when the tractor is on level ground. Attach tractor lower Linkage arm and top link, ‘The 3 pt, frame is equipped vith lower linkage pins dia, 22 mm and dia, 28 mm for Cat, Tor Cat, Il tractors, ‘Check the length of the P.T.0, fs, the tubes should overlap 20 - 30 em (8 = 12 ins), If they are too long damage can be caused to the P,7'.0, when the machine is raised on the Hydraulic Jie, ‘Tralled Model ( GF 452 T ) ‘he ideal hitch point for the tailed model is on 8 multi-holed deawbar attached to the tractor lower linkage arms which should be locked at a height of approximately 40 em (16 ins) from the ground, Cheek the length of the P.T.O, Shaft, the tubes should overlap by SO em (20 ins). Watch this point carefully as damage can be caused when turing if the overlap is WORKING POSITION Release the locking device on the outer wings (figs 4) and uring back itil the éive shafts become engaged, eve this the tine arms on one rator must mesh With the nexty (GF as2P) Free the caster wheels by unlocking the pin V (Fig. 6). With the machine resting on the ground adjust the angle of the tines by the top link until che inner tine Ups Just clear the ground wh the machine. ‘central position in front of In work the machine is lowered on the hydraulics so that the lower Link pins are In a free floating position, A reduction gearbox for both fowed and 3-point versions of the GF 452 can be supplied a¢ an optional extra with the basle machine, This gearbox allows the high soter speed necessary for tedding and turning to be maintained as well as facilitating a lower roter speed in order that the machine ean function as a windrowers It is possible to attach the reduction gearbox to all existing GF 452 units vithout ‘modification, Hitting the reduction gearbox (see Fig, 11) it the angle plece D onto the reduction gearbox with the 2 set screws 8x80 sup - plied with the gearbox, = Remove the plastic cover, = Remove the 2 set screws 12x30 from the right-hand side of the main gear box. le reduction gearbox onto shaft A, = Attach reduction getsbox to main housing by means of the 2 set tevews E 12535 and 2 spring washers F, = Attach clrelip.G ontn the shaft Ay ‘When tedding the PTO drive shaft should be fitted to shafe (A) of the main gearbox, ‘When windeowing the PTO dove shaft is to be mounted on the shaft (B) of the re~ duction gearbox. In this case the PTO speed should be held around 400 rev/min, and ground speed between 5=7 kem/hr, REFLECTORS POR Gr 452 ‘The GF 452 P is delivered with reflectors composed of 2 supports (8), 2 round white, 2 round red reflectors, 2 screws (V) (MS x 25) and 2 self-locking nuts (5).
