Strategic Action Plan
Membership
1.1.1 The chapter will honor milestone year members with
recognition at the birthday luncheon: giving certificates and
pins for years of membership. (Membership Committee,

1.1.2 Have more team-building activities in chapter
meetings, at least one per meeting. (Membership
Committee, Chapter President)
1.2.1 Our chapter will maintain a list of dropped member
contact information in order to encourage reinstatement
through personal contact at least once a biennium.

1.2.2 Our chapter will emphasize diversity in member
selection. (Membership Committee)

1.2.3 Our chapter will assign each new member to a


seasoned member as a mentor, one who will encourage
new members to attend local, area, and state meetings.

Suggestions
Recognize chapter members who have reached milestone
years as a Society member. Present service pins and
certificates to chapter members.
Take the opportunity at each meeting to get to know
members better by having some type of team building
activity.
Contact dropped members at least once a biennium for
possible reinstatement as a member.
Strive to initiate members each year.
Look at your chapter roster and the teaching area of each
member. Are there members from all areas of education? In
areas not represented, try to find women who are qualified.
Think out of the box!
Assign a new member to a seasoned member to be her
mentor who will encourage her to attend local, area, state and
international meetings. Perhaps this mentor could be the
person who recommended the mentee for membership.

at the local level recognize winners with a certificate of
recognition and/or a monetary award. We will also submit
the winning essay and winner's picture to the Xi State News
and to the local paper. Publish this information in the
chapter newsletter.

5.2.2 The chapter will submit articles to the local


newspaper and the Xi State News regarding chapter events.

7.1.1 Support Early Career Educators in our county.


7.1.2 Continue to support and encourage Early Career
Educators.
7.1.3 Continue to support our scholarship winner during
their freshman year in college by sending cards and care
packages. Keep in touch with them by sending cards and/or
emails as they complete their degrees in education.

We will provide all new teachers with goody bags on the first
day of in-service.
We will offer friendship and guidance to new teachers and
encourage them to stay in the field. We will also invite them
to chapter meetings to encourage membership.
Our chapter will continue to support and encourage our
annual scholarship winner until she completes her degree in
education.

7.2.1 Inform chapter members about the EEC.

encouraging members to attend the Creative Arts Retreat.

1. Make suggestions to state Planning Committee of ways
the state organization can help the chapter succeed.
2. Develop a written chapter improvement plan, perhaps
using the states Strategic Action Plan and/or the Chapter
Excellence Award Criteria as models.
Assign a chapter person(s) to maintain chapter history and to
update it biennially.
Establish chapter guidelines for what is kept, where it is kept,
and who is responsible for its storage.
Set up a timeline for reviewing chapter rules that can be
passed from biennium to biennium. At least every three years
review current chapter practices/new practices/abandoned
practices that need to be reflected in/deleted from chapter
rules. Submit revised rules to State Rules Committee as often
as revised.
