Suggestions
Recognize chapter members who have reached milestone
years as a Society member. Present service pins and
certificates to chapter members.
Take the opportunity at each meeting to get to know
members better by having some type of team building
activity.
Contact dropped members at least once a biennium for
possible reinstatement as a member.
Strive to initiate members each year.
Look at your chapter roster and the teaching area of each
member. Are there members from all areas of education? In
areas not represented, try to find women who are qualified.
Think out of the box!
Assign a new member to a seasoned member to be her
mentor who will encourage her to attend local, area, state and
international meetings. Perhaps this mentor could be the
person who recommended the mentee for membership.

Organizational

8.1.1 Obtain chapter input for strategic planning (Area
Directors, Planning Committee, Chapter Presidents)
Chapter Success
Suggestions
1. Make suggestions to state Planning Committee of ways
the state organization can help the chapter succeed.
2. Develop a written chapter improvement plan, perhaps
using the states Strategic Action Plan and/or the Chapter
Excellence Award Criteria as models.
Assign a chapter person(s) to maintain chapter history and to
update it biennially.
Establish chapter guidelines for what is kept, where it is kept,
and who is responsible for its storage.
Set up a timeline for reviewing chapter rules that can be
passed from biennium to biennium. At least every three years
review current chapter practices/new practices/abandoned
practices that need to be reflected in/deleted from chapter
rules. Submit revised rules to State Rules Committee as often
as revised.
