ABSTRACT
Since this recent years, safety and security issue in tourism industry getting more significant and
important. Tourist visit satisfaction so far no longer influenced by factor level of service quality
and diversity of products offered on a tourist destination but safety and security also become
tourist consideration. In Sabah tourism industry context, occurrence of few incident such as
invasion case in Lahad Datu, kidnapping case in few island in Semporna and occurrence of
earthquake in Gunung Kinabalu that sacrificing few people of tourist found can affect tourist
arrival because worried about safety and security aspect during vacation in this state. For that,
this paperwork will examine about importance of safety and security issue in Sabah which was
theoretically explained in addition to evidence of selected cases that are relevant. Safety and
security aspect is important for ensure tourist arrival not affected, operation and transaction of
various service sector which directly related with tourism industry not suffering losses and thus
taking care Sabah state reputation as one of the popular tourism destination in this region.
Hence, few aspect have to taken into account to ensure safety and security can be enhanced in
tourism industry, among them are integrating safety operation, re-evaluate safety procedure in
resort, draft of policy which related with guidelines of tourist safety and tourist attractions as
well as enforces safety and security aspect for entire service sector which involved in tourism
industry in this state. .
